Round Church Guided Walks combine engaging tours of historic Cambridge with tantalising intellectual history to create a truly unique experience of one of the world's oldest university cities. Weaving together stories about major figures in the history of the University, our well-informed guides cover a range of subjects. These include the rise of the University from Christian monasteries, the relationship between science and faith, the abolition of slavery, and the Protestant Reformation. Tours depart from the Round Church and include entrance into the Round Church Visitor Centre. The cost is £14 (£12 for students, children 12 and under free) - offering great value for money for a tour which delves deep into Cambridge's unique past. Private tours may also be booked online.

An inspiring experience

My tour guide, Bobby, is a passionate and knowledgeable Christian. He led us from the round church to the Cavendish Laboratory, sharing the enduring traditions of Christianity and the pursuit of knowledge in Cambridge. As we walked, Bobby highlighted numerous historical sites and figures, making the entire experience truly inspiring.

Top notch experience

We really enjoyed our walking tour. Our guide Julie was very knowledgeable, sharing fun and interesting facts about the university and city. It was a perfect way to spend 90 minutes exploring Cambridge. Even my teenagers gave it a thumbs up! Highly recommend.

Brilliant tour by very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide.
We had a wonderful tour of Cambridge with John. He is extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain the history and influence Cambridge has had throughout the world. It was quite eye opening to learn about some of the people and their stories.

A very Informative and Interesting Tour

People history building in Cambridge University tour.
I ve been to Cambridge Uni a few times before. This is the first time with tourist guide, which enables me to learn more about the history and stories behind building and scene.

Great Tour - definitely recommended

Our guide Dave was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. Unfortunately it rained quite heavily but Dave kept us all interested despite the weather! We saw a good range of colleges. The time and pace worked well. The guides are volunteers and the money goes towards supporting the charity for the round church which we really liked. I would strongly recommend this tour

Fantastic Tour!!!

Took this tour with a friend (a student of the university) on my first visit to Cambridge. It was fantastic! Speaking as a tour guide myself, this really was a top notch tour, going into such amazing details, gaining entrance to many of the colleges and seeing so much of the town! Our guide, Martin, was wonderful! He had so many great stories (humorous and historical) and made the experience feel personal. And he even remembered my friend from almost a year ago when he took the tour alone! I also appreciated the emphasis on the Christian history of the town and universities, really very enlightening. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cambridge!!

Great walking tour

Great way to find out more about Cambridge on our first visit. Very knowledgeable tour guide bringing the city to life with funny anecdotes, personal experiences and lots of historical information about Cambridge colleges, churches, rulers and more.

What an amazing walking tour of Cambridge! It should be way more popular on Tripadvisor. Dave was an excellent guide and a real professional. He provided lots of information about the history of the local landmarks and the involvement of Cambridge students in the main events that shaped our world. I thoroughly recommend you try it!

We enjoyed our guided tour very much indeed. The tour guide made the whole experience come alive. His historical knowledge was comprehensive, accessible and delivered with enthusiasm. If you want a deeper dive into the history surrounding Cambridge and it's colleges this is definitely the one to go for.
