Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you don't mind simplicity (no TV in room) and value quiet green spaces, I'd recommend Homerton. It's south of the railway line, though convenient for my purposes, and set in spacious grounds. Finding the porter's lodge isn't so easy at night, so make sure you know where you're heading beforehand. One thing I missed was a desk lamp in the room, so take your own if you have a lot of close work to prepare. The staff are really nice and the breakfast is good. I was sorry to leave!

I recently had to stay in this absolute dump. Room 247 was especially bad. There was a rather toxic smell of burning flesh probably due to the fact that the lad who once lived there was tragically gassed. Homerton, Cambridge and England collectively are a colossal piece of poo on the bottom of my shoe

Attended a conference here and the environment and buildings are lovely, larger than my own college.

It's a bit far from the centre of Cambridge, but it always worth a visit here. I lived here for a while until I moved away.

Delicous food, very good service. Beautiful hall, seats about 200. Staff happy to bring out a birthday cake.

Those reviews are inaccurate now as they are totally out-dated. The college boasts fabulous grounds, up-to-date overnight accommodation and catering that is considered good by students of other colleges. The distance from the city centre means less tourists, ease of parking and an ability to walk on the grass if you aren't a Fellow. It ticks the boxes these days.

Homerton college is the only college south to the rail. Although it is a bit away from the city center, its quite and unique draw my attention. As one of the youngest member of the University of Cambridge, its architecture is different from the old school but showed an approachable feeling. Only a few building spreading on big grass that makes Homerton a perfect place to walk. Most importance is that there is not many tourists and no porters control in the gate.

Simple rooms but clean and functional. Good welcome at the porters lodge, they even lent me an umbrella. No phone reception in the room at all, stayed here before and had the same problem. if you need an early start note that breakfast is good but does not open until 7.30 am.

I have stayed at Homerton College on a number of occasions when working in Cambridge. The free on-site parking and nice clean bedrooms and en-suite bathroom plus tea/coffee. The grounds are beautiful and I have taken a book to the orchard or walked across to the cinema on the odd occasion. Friendly and ideal for a single female traveller.

we went to 'Taming of the shrew' in the grounds of Homerton College - an excellent performance albeit we were huddled in blankets on a picnic rug - well recommended
