We walked a little further along the river away from the hustle and bustle near the bridge and found these punting tours.
Due to Covid restrictions there were less people on each boat and the prices were slightly higher than usual but all precautions taken and felt safe.
Noah was our guide and he was great, really natural and didn't feel like a 'scripted' tour like some of the rest we heard going past. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and answered all our questions.
Would really recommend this company- we visited at around 10:30am on a Saturday morning and it was nice and quiet whereas we noticed it got busier later so it's worth visit in the morning.

A fantastic tour along the river cam with our chauffeur Noah. A great company to deal with from booking until the end of the tour, From meeting the manager then the booking clerk there was no pressure or hard sale, Due to this we decided to take the private tour. This was very reasonably priced for a 45 minute tour.
Noah was very knowledgable and engaging along the river and answered our questions about the different landmarks as well as guiding us through the history of Cambridge.
I would throughly recommend this smaller company rather than the bigger ones with their touts for a more personal experience.

I wasn’t able to book a tour online but we took a chance and went down to try to book on the day tickets. It was worth taking a chance as we were able to get a tour straight away. It was the first tour so the river was fairly quiet. Noah was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and had the perfect balance of giving enough information but also leaving gaps so that we could just appreciate the wonderful view. He was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. I would definitely recommend this company and tour.

The tour was affordably priced at £35 for two persons on a shared punt. Our guide Ryan was humorous, knowledgable and is a credit to the company. Altogether the experience from booking to disembarking was exceptionally professional and I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Cambridge.

Wow what a fantastic experience. Joe, our tour guide, was amazing. He was funny, engaging, very knowledgeable and kept us fully entertained for the full 45 minutes. The tour was beautiful and we got to see the stunning buildings, along the Cambridge river. We highly recommend that you do the tour, with this company, they exceeded all of our expectations and it was a privilege to meet Joe.

Loved our tour, got lucky as it was just 2 of us on the boat because no one else bought ticket for the same time. Punter Noah was brilliant and very friendly, kind to let us hide under the bridge when it started raining unexpectedly. Was much cheaper to book online. We got tickets a day ahead.

A very pleasant experience. Our guide Bethany was so lovely. She was a dancer by profession and had just come back from Disneyland because of Covid. She told us lots of interesting facts along the way and was happy to answer any questions we had. She certainly helped make the tour a memorable one. We had a private tour so was a little expensive for 40 minutes on the water but having seen some of the self hire attempts we were glad we had Bethany!

Amazing 45 minutes along the river in Cambridge. Our puntsman was brilliant and very knowledgeable and a real credit to the Cambridge Punt Company. Weather was overcast and we went early so the river wasn't packed. We Really enjoyed it and was well worth the £25 each.

We had a lovely trip along The Cam and enjoyed listening to our friendly & knowledgeable chauffeur Will. He made the trip interesting and gave us lots of stories along the way as well as pointing out the sights. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone and would advise you to walk past all of the other operators and head for the men in the navy&white striped tshirts!

Went punting yesterday, it was a great experience. We had Jack as our guide, he was awesome, very informative and natural with everyone on board. You can tell he really enjoys his job which is great to see and he made it a memorable experience! Would 100% recommend going punting 😊

Hi. I understand that it is possible to board at several stations. Do you also get off from where you get on the boat? What is the price per person at the end of June and is it advisable to book places in advance for the end of June? Regards, Ariel

Hi, we’d like to experience punting in Cambridge but we have three small children (4 year old twins and a baby). I’m sure they’d enjoy it but I’d be worried about them disturbing the other passengers.

Do all the Punt companys do the very same thing ? and same length of tour ?, just price being a difference, want to come Thursday 4th Oct, a swift reply would be good so i can book

Pretty much! Personally I would avoid Scudamore as they are the most expensive with the most ‘scripted’ tour whereas the other companies you can get better deals and they adapt the tour to suit the crowd.
Highly recommend this company in particular, but most tours are same length as same stretch of river, I would always book a guided tour and avoid punting yourself as can sit back and relax and take in all the info and beautiful sights!
