Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the tourist information centre whilst on an afternoon trip to the city. We were travelling back from North Yorkshire and took the opportunity of parking up for a break. Unfortunately, on the day of our visit (Monday in September), most of Ely seems to be closed.
The centre is fairly large inside and on the day of our visit seemed to have three members of staff on duty who all seemed friendly. Our main reason for visiting the information centre was in search of a porcelain thimble souvenir though these were not available. However, there was an awful lot of information available for the potential tourist and would most certainly revisit if we were in Ely again and had more time.

The Tourist Information Centre in Ely is located on the edge of the City Centre in a lovely Tudor building.
Inside the staff have lots of information about the local area as well as maps and leaflets. You can also buy souvenirs here from your visit.
One thing I was very impressed at was that there was information about other locations in the UK so it could inspire you to make a visit to somewhere else. Good idea!
The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This tourist office has lots of information for everything you need to know in the area along with an array of lovely tempting things to buy in the gift area. The staff are very helpful - at time of us going please note they are not accepting cash. This is at one side of Oliver Cromwell's house which is a ticket to enter venue. We didn't go this time but would definitely go if we had more time in the future.

The tourist information is inside Oliver Cromwell house, it is worth taking the tour. Staff although very pleasant were not very helpful anything outside of Ely they had no idea. We wanted to visit Sake brewery just told us to ring them ourselves, apparently the brewery had told them their opening dates. This is one of the worst tourist information places we have ever been to.

The only lady working in the shop on our first visit to Ely was extremely helpful and friendly. She advised us how best our time would be spent that Monday afternoon.
We enjoyed our visit and the places recommended.
This member of staff was a credit to Tourist Information. Thank you

There’s no place to review Ely city as a whole but we’d like to say that it’s the most fantastic place. Loved walking round the historic streets, wandering along the riverside and enjoying a boat trip. But the three most amazing things are that Ely has free carparks, Ely has free and very clean toilets and finally (if you wish to visit Cambridge) you can go on the train from Ely for just £2.40 return!!! Well done Ely for providing tourists with excellent facilities without charge. It made our visit so enjoyable that we spent far more than we might otherwise have done, visiting attractions, shopping, having icecreams, eating/drinking, etc. Why can’t others places be like this?? Thanks Ely for a fabulous stay.

Lovely helpful staff. But, with the architectural treasures that Ely offers I can't understand why they don't offer a self guided tour telling us more about it. Bury st Edmunds do an excellent one which I was happy to pay £3 for. The was a free guide but it was pretty skimpy and didn't cover anything in detail.

Wonderful museum to explore for a small fee, Cromwell the man and his family history.
Very helpful staff and information gathering for our week in Cambridgeshire and beyond.
Obtained a map of Cambridge here(there is no information centre in Cambridge).

Situated at the entrance to Cromwell’s house, we were assisted by the friendly staff for our next visit to Ely as we had spent most of our day at the Cathedral before we got here.
There’s more to Ely than might originally meet the eye and we’ve got enough information and advice for our next visit without having to come back to the TIC.
