Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pleasant remains of an old fortress. On climbing the walls you have great views of Herm, St Sampsons and the coastline. Worth a look

This is free so worth a visit if passing. Small carpark opposite the entrance, but you have to go up a steep hill on foot, and there are no railings to safeguard small children, so may not be suitable for all. Right by the industrial part of the island, not well signposted. However, the views are worth the climb and there are parts like gun emplacements and trenches from when the island was occupied. Not much info there as it's free, but spent about 20-30 minutes there walking round and seeing the views from various points.

Not a massive place but worth a visit if your passing as there's plenty of free parking. What impresses (as with a lot of these types of places in Guernsey) was you had the castle/towers that were hundreds of years old, and built alongside them you had the German built defences from WW2, and this castle has quite a few WW2 defences/shelters built in and around it.

Whilst the castle is long past it’s prime there are a couple of information boards that tells its story once you walk up to the top. But from there go onto the ramparts and enjoy the view across the Little Russell to Herm and Jettou plus look north to Bordeaux Harbour. Shame that the view the other way is an industrial area.

The visitor would not normally want to visit this place, but it is worth going if you are passing. Guernsey is full of forts. Like many of them this was used and ‘improved’ by the Germans during WWII. There are no exhibits, just the fabric of the building, the walls. There are excellent views for the walls, both out to sea but also to the less lovely ‘industrial part of St Peter’s Port. You can see it all in around 15 minutes.
