Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Giving the hot weather anticipated for today 08/09/21 we headed to Sandy Lane Aqua Park with the children only to be disappointed that the water is only on from April till the 8th Sept so unfortunatly Aqua Park side of things wasnt on even giving the temperature today.
The park itself is a decent size, however I found it a little unkempt and overgrown.
It is right near to the River Dee where you can watch people kayaking/the ferry go past and a free carpark for 4 hours.

Lovely place to take the kids for a free day out however mine preferred playing in the River Dee. The park was overcrowded which is fine as there’s lots of space just outside the park to set up for the day but lots of the sprinklers and fountains weren’t working. It didn’t stop all the kids enjoying themselves though. Lots of variety there with the normal park in the same vicinity. Parking a bit of an issue when it’s busy but we were lucky to get in the small car park which was free for 4 hours. Lovely day but be prepared for chaos!

First visit to this park which is located on the banks of the River Dee walking distance to Chester city centre. A free entry smallish park ideal for kids up to 8 years old but there is also an aqua park that is open during warmer months and is warden controlled. The park itself is gated and fenced all around which is great for young kids and there are nice clean free toilets next to the park. There is also a small ferry running across the river Dee costs £1 per adult and 50p for kids, takes approx. 3 mins and runs all day, brilliant cheap ride for young kids! and also for walkers/cyclist wanting to get to the other side!. The warden keeps the park bins & grass area very tidy and clean. The play area has various rides and climbing equipment with the safe rubber base in case kids fall. The Aqua park is in the same area, small and just enough fountains, sprays etc to make it great fun for young babies/kids up to max 8 year old. We took a 4 year old and 11 month baby, both had a great time, the area is also rubber base and the various fountains entertaining for crawling babies albeit can be shock when first hit by the water!. There has been some complaints re not working properly but we were there on Saturday 07th July and all appeared to be working albeit the timing of the fountains a little slow to work. There is ample parking on the grass verge outside no worries about clamping, just do not park on the road and there is a small car park just before the park area but it gets full quickly. The park itself has very nice grass area for picnics and an ice cream van parks on the grass verge. Overall a free and very nice place on a warm sunny afternoon or any time if just using the play area, the splash zone does not operate in winter months!. The location makes it very good if you want to walk young children in push chairs and is wheel chair friendly apart from the ferry!. Enjoy!.

Highly recommend this place to anyone with young children who wants a fun day out with young kids, it beats taking them to a normal park. If I had to be nitpicky the only negatives are that it can get quite busy very quickly and sometimes the water can cut out, but for a free place to take your children, it's defiantly a fabulous little place to go during summer time.

Second time here and again an Aqua park with no water. Total dissapointment.
As its free there were the usual crowd of undesirables in there too very loud and all smoking.

I take my 3yr old here regularly when the weather is good and every time I'm amazed we can access it for free!
We go with a picnic and plenty of drinks to hydrate after all the running around.
Take plenty of towels or blankets to sit on and some shoes for the kids to wear that you don't mind getting wet because the floor around the park area can be hot!
It would be great if there was a little ice cream truck/tuck shop style thing at peak times because there isn't a shop near by.

This is a wonderful adventure for small kids and a blessed relief for their parents. Kids love getting wet! It's all free - including the parking.

Our kids love visiting here when the sun's out but try and get their early as it can get very busy.
It's a great venue for free.

Easy parking and a really good park. The water area is the main draw and there are toilets. There should be more parks like this.

After lots of friends recommending this park we thought best try it out...very impressed with how accessible it is and also it’s not too big - enough for the young ones to have some fun. The boys (6 and 4) loved the different water sprays and fountains and our youngest (6monrhs) was amused just watching them :) would highly recommend it for any families with young children!
