Only saw this church, which used to be the original Cathedral, because it was opposite our hotel and next to teh amphitheatre. Well worth a visit.

As you go around the walls you see this church, worth a visit as it was the first cathedral but has been cropped back to the present size so you need to walk around the outside to get the true size.

St John the Baptists church is very beautiful inside and very impressive, I thought it was better than the Chester Cathedral. This church is well worth a half hour of time.

This is a very welcoming church bright and cheerful with a cafe and shop at the rear. The ladies in the shop were very friendly and helpful. It is the original cathedral. Inside are massive Norman pillars

Although it is said that King Aethelred of Mercia founded the church in 689, there has possibly been a church here since 3rd or 4th century. It is a lively church, and a great place to stop in the cafe too.

Hi Andrea, we actually caught the park and ride from Chester zoo. As you will possibly know, living in Eastham, Chester can be a nightmare for parking and expensive too. Alternatively you can catch the train into Chester... More
