About The Chester Tour
All tours are led by fully qualified Blue and Green Badge Guides. A guided tour of Chester is the best way of seeing the city and there is a tour at 10.30am every day of the year (plus an additional tour at 2pm from Easter to end October). Tours generally last for approx 1.5 hrs so even if you are only in Chester for a few hours, make the most of your time here and let one of our experienced guides show you all the highlights of this beautiful city. A variety of sightseeing tours (by foot and by coach) and themed walks is also available all year round for both groups and individual visitors and at a time to suit you. Guides need to be booked in advance for these.

We love our city breaks and will take a walking tour whenever one's available to help orientate and get an insiders view on all the interesting bits that we might otherwise overlook. Our trip to Chester over the weekend of 12/13th Sept was no exception and we were delighted with our tour guide, Pat Jones. Pat was fantastic and gave us an insightful tour starting outside the townhall and Cathedral, around the Roman walls and through historic streets and the Rows with lots of interesting details and stories to keep us engaged. What with COVID we were a bit concerned about our trip, but everything was well organised to ensure safe distancing and lots of places to sanitise our hands with everyone behaving responsibly. We will certainly be visiting again.

This was a great quick tour of Chester. We met at the information centre (near the cathedral), learnt loads about the history and character of Chester and saw some vital Chester sites (including part of the Roman wall, the cathedral, the rows and other more hidden locations). Really great for a quick overview of the city and to get your bearings. Perfect for kids and adults alike and not too busy. Have cash as some guides don't take card, and be warned that due to COVID we couldn't go inside any buildings (so save time for cathedral later).

After going in the visitor centre next to the town hall - decided on a whim to go on the ghost tour. Why not? I have never been on a walking tour or a ghost tour before. Met Roger at 7:30pm and embarked on his 90 minute walking ghost tour of historic Chester. Whether you believe in ghosts and ghouls, don’t or have an open mind doesn’t matter. It was an interesting tour through some back streets you perhaps wouldn’t normally go as a day tourist. Roger’s ghostly tales revealed interesting history, were amusing and entertaining. Maybe some were even true - we can never be sure. It was a thoroughly enjoyable 90 minutes. We learnt a lot about Chester - saw some interesting things and had the pleasure of Roger’s company. I still have an open mind! I would recommend this tour - it’s interesting, entertaining and I will always remember Chester. In my next city visit I’ll be seeking out a walking tour of some sort - a great service.

Please note that the ghost tour is run by Ghost City Tours Chester. We're pleased you enjoyed your tour, though, and we’d love you to join our daily walking tour at 10.30am (also at 2pm from Easter to end October).
