- David Cooper3 contributionsWonderful experience, amazing archiveHad an amazing visit to the Cheshire Military Museum where my family could not have been made more welcome. We had arranged to donate the medal collection of my Great Uncle Major A J Cooper, including an Air Force Cross, the first ever awarded to an Army glider pilot. The staff had obviously gone to an enormous amount of effort researching their archives about him and my Great Grandfather, both of whom served in the Cheshire regiment. It was amazing to see photographs and newspaper articles about them both, including a caricature of my Great Grandfather dated 1895. My family can not thank the wonderful staff enough for everything they have done.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 May 2023

We did get some concessions with being OAPs and having young grandchildren. The staff were very informative captivating our youngsters with all sorts of stories. Well worth the visit and we all enjoyed the experience.Visited June 2023Written 12 June 2023
- AndyBIlfracombe, United Kingdom15 contributionsGreat museumExcellent museum telling the story of a proud county regiment through the ages. Particularly magnificent medal collection including several VC’s and of particular note the Scinde campaign section under that remarkable General Sir Charles James Napier and the WW1 and WW2 period inc a pen used during the surrender of the Japanese forces. Well worth a visit and to put several hours aside.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 28 October 2023

Make sure you go here during your visit to ChesterA highly enjoyable visit to Cheshire Military Museum by a group from Chester Business Club on 8/11/23. Friendly informative staff. Very interesting artefacts on display. I particularly enjoyed walking through time: a well organised collection that lead me from the creation of the Cheshire Military regiment, through the wars, through The Troubles, to present day. There’s lots to see here - give yourself plenty of time to browse through these poignant moments in history brought to life in this display. A very special museum in Chester - highly recommended for all ages. I’ll definitely be going again soon with my family.Visited November 2023Travelled on businessWritten 10 November 2023

Visited the museum whilst in Chester. I am not massively interested in military history but I still found it a very informative place. Very reasonably priced at £4, less for concessions. Staff very friendly & welcoming. We were there approx 1 hour & had a good look round in that time. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

We visited the Chester Military Museum on the 3/6/22
On arrival we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who gave us lots of information about the museum.
There is lots to see and is very informative and tells you all the history of the Military.
It’s says it’s free on the website but there is a small charge of £4 per adult which is definitely worth it.
If you get the chance I would recommend you visit this museum.

A lot to read and see, but an absolute must if you want to learn about military history, and Chester's involvement. Including a World War 1 trench/dugout, a huge array of medals, personal stories, models, uniforms and more. I was particularity moved by the story of a local 22 year old killed in Afghanistan and the tribute motorbike on display.

Sorry, have just seen this - they've never had any problems letting my dog in, so I'd say they'd be happy to have your dog look round
Is the museum wheelchair friendly, please?
