Overview
More
From the local Cornish coast to the dazzling beauty of the Tropical Reef, Newquay Blue Reef aquarium has an exciting world of underwater adventure waiting to be discovered. More than 40 innovative displays vividly bring to life the sights, sounds and smells of the sea, whilst regular feeding displays, rock-pool workshops and informative talks provide a fun and fascinating day out. Visitors can enjoy the closest of undersea encounters with amazing aquatic life including seahorses, giant octopus, pulsating Jellyfish and fierce Piranha. At the aquariums heart is a spectacular coral reef display housed within a 250,000 litre ocean tank - home to exotic tropical species like black tip reef sharks and Omiros the rescued loggerhead turtle. As well as hundreds of brightly-coloured reef fish and a huge Southern Stingray. Enjoy the sheer beauty of the display by taking a journey through its very own underwater tunnel, as well as through a number of viewing portholes, a floor to ceiling window and even enjoy close encounters from the surface - where Omiros often likes to pop up to say hello! Situated on Towan Promenade in the heart of Newquay, Blue Reef Aquarium not only offers a beach on its doorstep but also an amazing experience, whatever the weather!

The aquarium isn't very big, take about 1-2 hours at a leisurely pace. Has good collection. The down side is no parking, but there is paid parking nearby. There is feeding hourly, worth doing that.

Went here on a cool rainny day, worth the visit. It has a gift shop and restaurant. Worth the visit and resonably priced.

Visited here whilst in the area. Had a nice time, heard some educational talks. I would say it was slightly overpriced as it was only a small complex and you could do it in 20 minutes. Good for kids though as you can come and...More

Nice little aquarium in the centre of town. No parking but main car parks in Newquay are easily accessible and very reasonable. Nice selection of marine fish, all looking very healthy! Shame the cowfish on the advert was nowhere to be seen

4 adults and a 3 year old went as an outing. No parking. Had to pay and display and quite a steep walk to the aquarium. Very small. Limited interest. Not value for money. Would not ho again.

Got to see the octopus being feed and the staff were really knowledgeable, just missed the turtle feed. Great that you can go back in all throughout the day. Really reasonably priced.

Very reasonably priced and we had a discount voucher too. Lots to see. The turtle was out favourite. He was rescued from fishing line in Greece and was over 30 year's old. We were there for over and hour but could have stayed longer. Great...More
