Well worth the price if you take the time to look properly
All the tanks are very well kept with lots to look at. Many of the creatures are rescued, including the blind turtle, many of the terrapins and the crocs, and some of the fish. We caught the talk and feeding of the turtle, and they truly treat the animals so well. We love fish and sealife, so took a good while to go around and feel the entry price is well worth it. The ONLY tiny criticism is that the info boards could do with updating and also made larger, because some are on the far side of the tanks and some are missing some of the species within. Staff very informative. Do not be put off by the rather tatty exterior! If you love aquatic creatures, you will love this.

    Sea life and relax
Whilst it may be a small venue it was packed with a lot of interesting sealife. Really relaxing place to visit. Open ticket to come and go all day, very friendly and informative staff.

    Fun and compact aquarium
Well maintained aquarium and well looked after fish. Coral exhibit was beautiful, and amazing to see a sea turtle so up close. Feeding times and talks very informative with friendly staff. Convenient location next to the beach and cafes. Also ticket allows while day entry and reentry which was really nice! Overall very enjoyable experience. Cute gift shop at the end for souvenirs.

    Another informative visit
Boys enjoyed the talk given by a staff member - very informative and at their level. Good place to spend about an hour or two. Feel so sorry for the blind turtle as it swims around and around in the tank, but then again where else could it go?

ok place to visit if it is raining
So we decided, because of the inclement weather, to visit here even though our children are all adults, however having a wheelchair and knowing the venue was accessible. The first issue, the parking! Years ago here, blue badge holders could park right outside the venue however now, for some reason, you cannot. This means either you have to park further up the very steep hill and walk down with the wheelchair, or as we did, drive down to the barrier, drop off and then drive to the car park. However this is not easy because of the people and vehicles coming down the hill. For reference, St George Road car park is probably closest. Having managed to get all our party in the venue, it is ok. I know it is right on the seafront and so subject to the weathering, but it really is looking very tired and tatty, even inside. The displays are ok, nice but nothing special. It is small, so for the price is not cheap, but as we wanted to keep out of the rain it was ok. So ok as a rainy day venue, but I am sure there are better places to go.

    Great staff!
The aquarium is lovely and the staff are very knowledgeable. We were lucky to see the black tip sharks being fed. The turtle was also lovely to see! Unfortunately, my little girl was poorly while we were there so we missed the whole of the middle section of the aquarium. The staff really looked after both me any my little one who was very sick! They helped me to sort her out, gave her water and then refunded our ticket price which was totally unexpected and so kind. The two staff who were in the cafe were amazing and I am so grateful to them for making a very stressful 10 mins much easier. My husband and son did get to see the rest of the creatures and loved it! Thank you everyone.

    Lovely little aquarium worth visiting!
Amazing little aquarium. I went with my partner. Its not massive but just the right size for a few hours if you want to stay for the talks. Good variety of fish, lovley sharks and a very large turtle. I would definetly recommend going. You get a stamp for the day if you want to walk around again or reenter. Which we did 3 times.

    Lovely little Aquarium
Very surprised by this lovely little aquarium right on the beach front in Newquay, hadn’t planned to go, the weather was a bit naff and we ended up spending around 3 hours here. There isn’t loads of exhibitions however it was quiet so you could really take your time and enjoy each one and spend more time picking out individual species from mixed tank, we spent about 20minutes just watching the big Turtle at the end, poor things blind but it’s cool how they’ve learned to feed and also just keep swimming around. Couple mayby use a little updating, but it was clean and enjoyable and a good way to spend a few hours if the weathers poor.

    Short family time out
Visited here whilst on holiday in Newquay. It was a lovely Aquarium, great place to visit with our 20 month old. Lots to look at and amazing information. The tunnel was nice and little one loved it. Downside was how small the Aquarium actually is. We planned to spent the morning there, we were out withing 25 minutes. It's great you can return throughout the day but this wasn't an option for us with a little one.

    Great!
We had a great time! Owen was amazing! So knowledgable & friendly. Definitely recommend a trip! Loved seeing the crocodilians both rescued. One from a suitcase at Heathrow & the other back of a pet shop with no water. They certainly must be a lot happier now. Went with my daughter & 16 month old granddaughter who really enjoyed it ( not too young). We didn’t eat there at the cafe but did buy a key ring & fridge magnet in the gift shop 😊

Wasn’t sure what to expect as it looked quite small from the outside, but this place was great. The shark feeding session was super interesting too! We had a great couple of hours and I absolutely loved how close the turtle came to us when it was swimming around!

Visited the Aquarium today, didn't take too long around 30-45 mins. This aquarium compared to others is very tired and needs investment to improve. Watching the sharks and the Large Turtle swimming about in an area I felt was small (I'm no expert) was quite depressing to be honest. For the cost I would give this a miss sorry.

Expensive for very little to see.
The young lady giving a talk on the one turtle was good though.
Only takes a few minutes to walk around as minimal to see.

We visited here in April 2024 and paid around £38 for 2 adults and 1 child (plus the free toddler).

The aquarium itself is good fun and the talk we went to was informative, however I was surprised when we got to the end that that was it; it took us about 45 mins to go around.

We went to the cafe and then paid £37 for 2 kids sandwiches, pizza and chips. There wasn’t much selection on the menu and whilst the food was nice enough and hot, it did seem overpriced.

The toilets downstairs were a little messy.

Overall it was a nice trip but if I had realised it would have been so quick I might have thought twice before shelling out ~£70 for the whole experience

Had the kids deal for £1 with a paying adult deal X2 , and a free toddler , but even this felt overpriced in my opinion, would have been super narked if had paid full price for the kids aswell. The place is small granted could had dragged it out longer if we read every single thing , but know what kids are like read bits and bobs but not everything . We was in and out in about 40 minutes, we tried to listen to the fish food talk but people were chatting and the Mic wasn’t/loud or clearer enough to combat this. Was pretty busy two and due to small space my toddler was hit by two different peoples backpacks whilst walking resulting in him getting hurt and crying . On positive side there is a wide range
If fish to see and the children enjoyed the tunnel walk through and seeing the big turtle there , just for the price I expected more and for it to be bigger and last longer .

I really enjoyed my visit and was surprised by the variety of sea life. My favourite was the Turtle, he swam right by me. I could have watched him for hours. A member of staff was giving a talk about him. She also mentioned that I could use my ticket for re-entry to watch the octopus being fed 2hours later. I will definitely be visiting again.

Thought we would go to the aquarium on our way back from our holiday in Bodmin. When looking at the reviews online we thought the price would but worth it but it really wasn’t.

Although there was a good variety of species and different marine life, it took us 30 minutes to walk round. Considering it cost nearly £30 for 2 adults it doesn’t seem worth the cost.

The information about each species was interesting and we enjoyed walking through the tunnel but after that there wasn’t much else to look at. I’d dread to think what peak season prices will be if off peak was nearly £30. We were going to get lunch there but the cafe didn’t even look open.

I understand that they need to feed the animals and look after them and that all costs money but £30 to walk around for half an hour is expensive and too much.

We would highly recommend a visit to the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay. The building looks a little tired; however the range of animals that they look after is fantastic. We watched some of the animals being fed and listened to the staff member giving a talk, it was fascinating to hear all the facts which captured us all! It was sad to hear about the past lives of some of the animals; however they are well looked after now. The highlight of the visit was seeing Omiros the sea turtle, reading about it’s sad history and how well it is being looked after now. We booked on line prior to the visit with the entry cost being very reasonable. The cafe was dog friendly although you can not take them around the aquarium. We would highly recommend a visit if you are in Newquay.
