From the local Cornish coast to the dazzling beauty of the Tropical Reef, Newquay Blue Reef aquarium has an exciting world of underwater adventure waiting to be discovered.

More than 40 innovative displays vividly bring to life the sights, sounds and smells of the sea, whilst regular feeding displays, rock-pool workshops and informative talks provide a fun and fascinating day out.

Visitors can enjoy the closest of undersea encounters with amazing aquatic life including seahorses, giant octopus, pulsating Jellyfish and fierce Piranha.

At the aquariums heart is a spectacular coral reef display housed within a 250,000 litre ocean tank - home to exotic tropical species like black tip reef sharks and Omiros the rescued loggerhead turtle. As well as hundreds of brightly-coloured reef fish and a huge Southern Stingray.

Enjoy the sheer beauty of the display by taking a journey through its very own underwater tunnel, as well as through a number of viewing portholes, a floor to ceiling window and even enjoy close encounters from the surface - where Omiros often likes to pop up to say hello!

Situated on Towan Promenade in the heart of Newquay, Blue Reef Aquarium not only offers a beach on its doorstep but also an amazing experience, whatever the weather!

Good for a hour with young children

It's quite pricy if you pay the full price. We used Tesco club card vouchers which made this good value. We spent about a hour here with a 5 and a nearly 3 year old and they... read more

£36 for a family of hour, to walk around the aquarium in under an hour, alot of the displays did not have the type of fish that were in them. Very disappointed.

We appreciate all feedback so thankyou for your review. There are regular talks and feeds that take place throughout the day which extends your visit time as well as trails and quizzes for the young ones to take part in. We are surprised that you didn't find the animals in the displays as they are all clearly identified with the... More

A small aquarium with a limited variety of fish and underwater creatures but would be great for a rainy day family visit. My favourite exhibit was the Octopus, and I think most of the children there also loved him due to the comical character in the recent Disney Pixar movie. There was also a Caiman, Sea horses and a variety... More

Not very big, not loads to see. Very expensive for what it is. Difficult to access with a buggy as it is right on the seafront. Would not visit again. Waste of money.

Thank you for your feedback we value all reviews given. There are actually two alternate routes down to the sea front where the aquarium is situated so is easily accessible with a pushchair, pram or wheelchair. More

Me and my boyfriend visited first thing on a school day and were lucky enough to have the whole aquarium to ourselves for the majority of our visit. I was easy beforehand as many reviews claimed that there wasn't much to keep your attention. I couldnt disagree more! We were there almost 3 hours and honestly had we not made... More

My little girl loves dolphins and aquatics so Blue reef Newquay was an obvious choice of destination for her 8th party party. We had 10 children from 5 to 8 (mainly older ones) who were fascinated at every stage of the tour, and birthday girl was certainly made to feel centre of attention - as she didn't want to feed... Small tight and very cramped, not much to see for the money paid. Some great species of fish though that you wouldn't normally see
