- WhiteheadsPreston, United Kingdom19 contributionsLovely little zooNot very big but the animals looked well cared for. Good place for couples or families with lots of different spaces to picnic. The inside aviary was wonderful, with the birds flying freely around you. It rained on the day we visited so a few of the animals were doing the sensible thing of staying indoors; can’t blame them really. Worth the price of admission if you’re in the area.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 September 2023
- GunacDudley, United Kingdom146 contributionsA Full Day OutThe entrance fee is acceptable at £13.90 for a senior admission. The animals seemed happy and contented in their enclosures and there was a reasonable mix of animals to view. There wasn't a great selection but we were pleased with what we did see. Two members of staff were in various locations throughout the day feeding and introducing the animals and giving information for the visitors. The animal crackers slot was really well received by the children who could be hands on with the skulls and skins available to view. The food outlets were clean and produce available at acceptable prices, not over inflated. Of course Cornish Pasties were on sale which were very tasty and the coffee was good too. Overall we had a good day 10am until around 3pm.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 October 2023
- Tom7 contributionsSuper good day outCame along to Newquay Zoo today, on the 20th of November. Really happy to see such a variation of animals. It was a really nice day out, and luckily we came on a really quiet day. We spoke to a lady called Rhiann, who was very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the conservation of animals which made our trip complete. Other staff were smiley and looked happy to be there as well. Overall really nice place to visit!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 November 2023

- David T35 contributionsGreat excursion, good foodDespite it being a cold day there were plenty of animals to see. The lemurs were fun to watch pelicans posed for us and other birds swam around. This was before we had got five minutes into the zoo. Because it was relatively quiet we got more time with the zoo ranger who was friendly and had interesting facts about the zoos animals. We even fed mongooses and meerkats - this was interesting as this involved locusts! There was a good range of lunch options - I opted for pasty and cheesy chips which were good quality and value. The tropical enclosure was lovely and warm (considering how cold it was) and the inhabitants were really interesting. All in all a good excursion.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 December 2023
- Big Bear L14 contributionsLovely trip to Newquay zooWe had a lovely trip to Newquay zoo. I have been to Cornwall many times and not realised the zoo was here until I saw it on a recommended place to visit. Yes it is smaller than some zoos but we had a lovely time, it was quiet (due to the time of year I am sure) The penguin talk given by Rhiann was really entertaining, we later followed Rhiann to feed the meerkats and the mongoose. She spent time talking to us and giving us information on the zoo and the animals, she let us feed both animals and made the trip even better. She was very knowledgeable and spent time she didn’t have to, talking to us. Really enjoyed it and definitely recommend.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 December 2023
- Glenda B9 contributionsFun and educational day outSmall but perfectly formed zoo. Well tended and plenty of animals to visit. Refreshments reasonably priced (the brownie was very good!) Huge thanks to Emma from the zoo education team who was so knowledgable and presented information about the animals in such an engaging way we all (adults and children alike) left wanting to share the facts we had learnt, who knew that Meerkat society was so strict! Thank you Newquay zoo for a fun and educational day out.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 18 December 2023
- Dug S5 contributionsUnsung heroes. We love Newquay Zoo. We don't go as often as we would like but every time we do we have an amazing time. Newquay Zoo is a modern zoo with the emphasis on conservation and education, both of which are so important and done so well at Newquay. Our recommendation would be to spend a good 4 hours or more to take a couple of laps around the grounds to see animals at different times of the day and to be able to go to the talks and get some food at the cafe. . You will see everything if you spend a bit of time at each exhibit and go at different times throughout the day. Every member of staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food is also excellent from the cafe. A very special mention goes to Rhiann one of the rangers at the zoo. On our last two visits to the zoo we have been very lucky to be able to spend time with Rhiann as she gave numerous ranger talks around the zoo. Rhiann is an absolute star and an asset to the zoo. So friendly and welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable on all things zoological. Rhiann always had so much time for us and is always willing to discuss any topic or answer any questions. Rhiann is an excellent presenter and really good with young and old customers. We really appreciate all of the team at the zoo and all of the work they do. We're going to buy memberships and make sure that we return more often. Thank you so much everybody for always brightening up even the wettest and windiest of Cornish days.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 December 2023

Visited during half term on a rainy day, for 2 adults and 2 children payed £46.75 for a saver which was £51.45 with gift aid. Payed about £6 for parking with a plan of staying a few hours about 4 hours plus of that parking was wasted!
Whilst in the zoo I wasn’t able to see anyone doing talks etc. The closest to this was watching the penguins be fed in the rain which lasted a few minutes.
Lots of attractions where closed or “being updated” the maze was closed, the telescope at the Wildebeast was out of action due to social distancing with covid. Nothing could be touched in the village farm (petting zoo?)the attraction next to the village farm was closed too! (I forget what it was called) The amphibion tunnel looked empty as was being updated, and most of the animals were hiding due to the rain. We wrapped up the whole park in about an hour this was really disappointing for what we payed.

Good afternoon, thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback and your review. We're very sad to hear that you were disappointed with your visit to the zoo.
Although we are a slightly smaller zoo than others we feel our admission charges reflect the educational and fun experience that we aim to provide our guests of all ages when they visit the zoo. From the feedback we have had, it's suggested that most visitors spend around 3-4 hours per visit - so we're very sorry to hear that you did not find this to be the case.
Unfortunately we have had to suspend all animal talks as to not encourage social gatherings and to comply with social distancing regulations given by the government. We are hoping these will be able to continue once guidelines change.
Unfortunately this is the same case for several of our exhibits and other areas of the zoo such as the Dragon Maze and the Tropical House. These areas have either too small of space to open or their entry/exit are through the same door, so we have had to close these for the foreseeable due to health and safety. Once government guidelines change we are hoping to reopen these areas once again.
We appreciate your feedback and thank you for supporting us through this time with your visit.
Kind regards,
NZ team

After paying for 4 hours parking £8. 40 was expecting to spend at least a full morning here. The car park charge is not the fault of the zoo however after reading up in advance I did feel I would be spending a few hours there! As they recommend 3 hours or more yet it is far smaller than expected, the enclosures were small particularly the one holding 3 lions, they looked happy enough although it didn't seem adequate to my mind. It was more like a pleasant play park you would bring toddlers as they have a farmyard area where goats roam etc and rabbit, hamster pens etc. Personally I would not be happy if I had paid for a family to visit as it is quite costly and is disappointing overall. I was visiting solo and felt it was a waste of time as I was in and out in less than 2 hours and that was with tea break. I'd like to think the entrance fee will go to helping towards upkeep of the zoo but sadly it certainly needs improving.

We had a great family trip out to Newquay Zoo, it’s a lovely small zoo with very knowledgeable keepers and was kept clean and a nice snack seating area. Toilet facilities were clean and good. Reading some of the comments on here, I would suggest visitors pay attention to the keeper talks that are given at various times. Was very educational and enjoyable and engaging, the keepers were happy to chat to us at the end and explain and answer any questions we had. The lions were amazing, as explained to us not wild lions and not a breeding pack so conditions were adequate and suitable for a 20 hour a day sleeping lion. These are captive breed animals, if attending these Zoos do your bit and visit/spend money/fund and support the various programs for conservation projects. Very reasonably priced with 2 senior citizens, 2 adults and one child and a carer going free all for £54. Bargain for an enjoyable and educational 4 hours. Would recommend catching the lion feeding or other animal feeding times if you can, although these are rotated so would be on the day. It’s a small zoo but an enjoyable Zoo, do your homework or expect that on arrival. Lastly gift shop was god, with some great items for children

Booked online for a visit as we were forecast rain all day.
£50 for a family of 4 seemed ok for a day at the zoo. We booked in for 11:30-12:00. We arrived and paid £8.60 to park all day as we usually spend a full day at a zoo.
We were finished by 2:30 and had stopped for lunch during that time.
It is an extremely small zoo so don’t expect this to be a full day out.
The only exciting animals (in my opinion) were the lions and zebras.
Very disappointed and would not recommend this as a day out to anyone.

We purchased tickets online to visit the zoo, and were able to choose a time slot with plenty of information about how many tickets had been sold so far. The zoo was quiet and felt very safe, with many hand sanitiser stations, and super clean facilities.
When we arrived it was raining, and many of the animals were hiding inside. Despite the downpour, we did see some stunning zebras in the African Savannah. As the sun came out, so did the rest of the animals. We saw the penguins being fed, and even watched one little chap approach the keeper for a belly scratch. Very cute!
The wallabies, meercats, deer and even lions came out to play, and I've never seen such stunning Lions so close up, and looking so well kept. Their coats are glossy and they look well fed and rested. This is true of all of the animals.
We also spotted the red pandas, asleep high up in the trees. I was thrilled as these are my favourite and I was really hoping to catch even a glimpse!
The zoo is not enormous, and some areas are closed for hygiene reasons, which under the current circumstances is completely understandable. There is a one way system in operation, and the timed entry tickets mean guests numbers are limited and monitored. The cafe is serving takeaway food only, but the pasties were great and there is covered outdoor seating. Everything feels safe and well managed, I would absolutely recommend a visit!

Good afternoon, thank you for taking the time to leave this review and also for your feedback.
We're thrilled to hear that you had a great day with us and that you saw some of the fantastic species we home here. Our lions; Boss, Semira and Amahle are definitely stunning like you said! We appreciate your feedback regarding the covid-19 measures we have had to put in place. We're happy to hear that you felt safe and you thought our facilities were super clean!
Thank you for your visit to the zoo and we hope to welcome you back soon.

Parking is not owned by the Zoo and is expensive without the knowledge of how long you are going to spend in the Zoo.
Throughout the Zoo all Covid measures were good however weren't necessarily policed.
The enclosures for the animals seemed small in comparison to other Zoos which obviously isn't fair on the animals.
Whilst the entry price is fair we would not class this as a "day out" location. We saw all the animals and read lots about them but were done in 4hrs.
Overall was a fair day out but would not visit again.

We visited the zoo as i thought would be nice to take my young children to however, was disappointed once visited. Overall took us an hour to go round the whole park, was told by a member of staff takes 3 hours. Family of four paid over £45 including voluntary payment to help support the zoo. Brought tickets at the zoo wasn’t even asked if I would like to pay the voluntary excess, not that I would have declined but still would have been nice if they asked.
The only animals we got to see were the meerkats, otters, red panda and penguins. The animals were either hiding or locked away. Very disappointed as little to see, would not visit again and certainly would not recommend to anyone else.

We visited today (Friday 31st January) on a bleak wet winters day, we were expecting to see the animals and leave with the bad weather.
We started making our way around to look at the animals when we heard that the meerkat feeding was about to happen, with it being out of season it was very quiet and we were virtually alone.
Alex the zoo keeper was great, he let us throw some food into the meerkat enclosure and stayed with us for a while talking about the animals and the zoo. He informed us of the other talks and we attended later that day. We saw the meet and greet with reptiles, penguin feeding and the otter feeding; All of which Alex delivered with great enthusiasm and detail.
We practically had one to one zoo trip, it was ace. The animals were just as interested in us as we were of them, with it being quiet and most put a show on for us (lions playing football, lynx’s all out and playing, and the red pandas up close and cute as ever), you can tell they’re all well looked after.
What we thought would be a quick zoo visit ended up staying to the bitter end and being let out the lock gate!! Alex made our day at newquay zoo, he’s an asset to the zoo and animals with his knowledge and passion for animals and conservation.
Thank you for a great visit and making us glad we braved a wet miserable day to visit.

We recently visited this zoo while on holiday (2 adults + 15 month old). We were disappointed at the size of the zoo and some of the animal enclosures especially the lion enclosure. We had walked round the zoo in 1 hour as there wasn’t really much to see. I definitely think it’s overpriced for the animals they have there.

There were lots of different animals to see around the zoo. All of the animals were out and could be seen and all of their enclosures were big and perfect for the animal that was in there. The entry prices were really reasonable for what was in the zoo, as it was a lot bigger than what we thought. The zoo was very well landscaped and looked after, with lots of plants and also Picnic areas and benches to sit. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, helping with anything that anybody wanted. Will return, thank you.

Good Morning, my apologies for the delay in response. We are working very hard here at Newquay Zoo to keep on improving our disabled facilities. The recent installation of a Changing Places toilet has added to this tremendously. we have also completed a lot of work around the zoo removing gradients on bridges and removing gravelled areas to make wheelchair access better. The work is ongoing and we welcome any suggestions for improvement.

I am due to come to Newquay on holiday next month, I am wanting to bring my 6 year old daughter to the Zoo however she has a phobia of birds. so my question is, are all the birds in enclosures so you have the option of walking in there or do you have birds walking round the zoo?

Good Morning
A majority of our birds are in enclosures however we do have a few birds that are free roaming. These include peacocks, bantams and occasionally the ducks wander about. The tropical house does have free flying birds and they don't usually fly into the public area but they do have the possibility of doing so. Our gems of the jungle also includes free flying birds. I hope that this answers your question. Thank you
