Few people (apart from locals) know about the National Dahlia Centre at Varfell but when friends come to stay in the summer we always take them there. Whether or not you are into flowers (or Dahlias) this collection featuring literally hundreds of different kinds will blow you away. It is dog friendly and the flowers are all in rows in... More

A great place to visit for fans of Dahlias, the farm was easy to find, plenty of parking and there was no entrance fee. A fantastic variety of plants with a stunning blend of colours. The display was well laid out, with wide paths to walk between the rows and the plants are clearly labelled. You also have the chance... More

I visited on a wet and windy day and was met by this glorious blaze of colour from some two thousand Dahlia cultivars which are all labelled, which forms the national collection. I spent an hour and half enjoying the view and taking notes on plants to grow next year. It was a pleasant surprise that this horticultural delight had... More

We visited on the Open Day when not only was entrance free (as it always is) there were knowledgeable staff on site to provide answers and advice. The collection is stunning, with nearly 2000 different cultivars in all shapes and sizes, from 30cm high up to over 2m. All were labelled with numbers and names and there were some grown... More

If you love plants you will love this! The day we visited the dahlias were looking at their best. What a selection of absolutely amazing, vibrant colour.

I've lived in Cornwall for over 30 years and had my first visit here yesterday. A glorious selection of dahlias all beautifully displayed and an amazing explosion of colour. My friends and I spent about an hour here. Very peaceful location with super views across the fields to St Michael's Mount. We'll done Varfell Farm for allowing us to visit... More

What a sight to behold some 1600 dahlias all in flower and each one carefully labelled. We spent a delightful sunny afternoon there wandering up and down the rows. There is a rough guide on your left as you enter the field to advise where different types are planted.Dahlia plants are also for sale when we were there in the... More

One of the best things I have done all summer, just wish I had a few acres to grow dahlias on this scale, amazing collection and a full field of awesome blooms.

Having contacted the NDC before coming on the 23rd of October I was told the Dahlias were still good but 'going over'...all I can say is if they were 'going over' I didn't notice...wow. An explosion of colour greeted us, we went with a list of 8 or so to look at and came away with a list of 29,... More

This place was a real highlight of our hols in Cornwall: a field full of dahlias, I've never seen such a huge concentration of dahlias together. It was very quiet (about 6 visitors and hardly any staff in evidence). All the dahlias were labelled and each one seemed unique. It was quite a short visit (we spent about half an... More
