About
At Mermaid Pleasure Trips our aim is to provide you with the most enjoyable, safe and memorable experience at sea. We run 8hr and 4hr deep sea wreck & reef fishing trips, and 2hr mackerel fishing trips. We also provide 2hr and 3hr wildlife safari cruises in Mounts Bay, searching for the marine wildlife in their natural habitat. These trips are extremely popular, so please phone, or book on our website. We take credit cards and Paypal payments from our website. All monies are refunded if weather prevents us from sailing. Had a trip booked on the mermaid which, sadly, was cancelled due to weather conditions. Booked to go on Monday and received the email on Saturday with an option to rebook or refund. Had to choose the refund due to our circumstances.
Monday turned out to be a glorious sunny day but as we are not mariners my wife and l were satisfied the crew knew the conditions would be against us.
Absolutely no issues with getting our refund, money was back in our account on Monday. This is their living and l'm sure they wouldn't cancel for nothing.
On any further holidays in Cornwall would be more than happy to rebook with mermaid.

2 trips last week - 2 hour mackerel and 4 hour bottom fishing on Vanessa Jane.

However, it was a minimum effort job by Mermaid:
No bait allowed (due to no knife policy)
No gutting of fish on the boat (see above)
Boat was ticking over only so travel to/from was very slow - wasting our fishing time. Understand fuel is expensive but nobody was paying to listen to an engine rumble along at minimum revs.
Both trips returned to dock well before the time
- 1 Hr 50 mins and 3 Hr 45 mins.
If you’re desperate for some time on the sea then this is a clean and tidy boat. If you want to catch fish and value for your cash then this is not for you. My assumption is that they have little competition and don’t rely on repeat bookings due to the constant flow of tourists.

Fantastic experience on the 3-hour boat trip. The views were breathtaking along the coast and the two men made the trip with their humour and information about points of interest. Spotting seals and seeing dolphins swimming all around the boat was amazing. Would definitely go again.

What an amazing couple of hours . The trip included history of the area , visiting and seeing a couple of coves , seeing seals , jelly fish , sea birds and being joined by dolphins for about 40 minutes . So good for the heart and soul and such good value for money .A real treat and sea feast 😊

I did some research on which company to use. This seemed to work for us in terms of a safe boat (didn’t like the look at a net based catamaran or blow up boat). We booked easily online. Paid to park in Penzance and decided to get a homemade Cornish pasty each from the actual Mermaid shop. Was delicious. It was all well organised. We went on with two older kids, two dogs and myself n hubby. Getting onto the boat was a bit hairy down steep stairs, not recommended for folk with physical challenges.
The men who took us out were really experienced, funny and knowledgable. They didn’t over talk and kept us abreast of what was happening. There was a toilet on board.
We saw seals and dolphins. The dolphins were my fav. Really did take my breath away. The men knew how to find them and we were around them for a good 45 mins. Just exceptional experience!
All my imagines are videos so not many pics. Saw many pods of dolphins 🥰

We had a fantastic couple of hours on the boat trip we saw Risso dolphins, Common dolphins and Seals.My little boy even got to have a little go at steering the boat.The two guys are great so friendly and genuinely seem to love what they do.Thank you for a great boat trip.

We had an amazing time on the wildlife tour out of Penzance. Within minutes we saw a pod of dolphins and went into see dolphins on 3 other occasions over the 2 hours. The weather was terrible but the crew kept us happy and there was lots to see along the coast too. No seals this time but seeing the dolphins more than made up for it

My husband and I chose Mermaid Trips due to their use of a fishing boat for the tour as opposed to a RIB - we also found the the 3hour wildlife cruise was better value for money that the 2hour trips offered elsewhere.
The crew were superb - very knowledgeable and you felt in safe hands!
The views were incredible - we were lucky enough to see seals and dolphins! Even if wildlife was not found, the scenery was so beautiful and interesting facts we learnt along the way make the trip more than worthwhile!
We will definitely be booking again!

Perfect day, enjoyed the commentary and facts from the lovely guys working. They seem to love what they do and shared our enjoyment while the dolphins gave us a real show. Took the 2 hour wildlife tour- lovely way to see st Michael’s mount too! Thanks for some special memories.
