    Fascinating and unique museum
This museum is absolutely fantastic and unique with its many photographs from around 1860! Being able to see Polperro men, women and children photographed at work, outdoor knitting etc is fascinating! Also you are introduced to the many patterns of the "fishing-frocks"/guernseys - you can buy a book describing these as well as the life of the pioneer photoprapher in the small museum book shop.

Don't leave Polperro without a visit here
Like so many small museums this was excellent.Great range of exhibits which really tell the story of the town.2 staff on duty, both local and so keen to help and add detail and colour to the visit.£3 for adults, under 16 free so great value. This museum deserves our support. In keeping the town's history and heritage alive it does an invaluable job. Thank you!

    Fascinating local museum
The museum is situated at a picturesque site by the harbour overlooking the village. Staff were warm and friendly. The museum is full of recent and 18th/19th century local history. Accounts of a marooning in the Caribbean, devastating village flooding and women knitting waterproof smocks for Polperro fishermen stand coherently side by side. We learned about local figures and place names that persist today. Excellent curated display. The coffee shop out side overlooking the harbour made the visit perfect.

We love to find out about the history of places and found this really good. Had never really read about the true Cornish smugglers and found out things we never knew. Very small but makes up for it in information. Would highly recommend coming here.

Very reasonably priced at £3 per person but a fair price as only very small (you could take just 20 mins to go round). Would benefit from a professional curator in my view as so much stuff and far too much text, including hand written words which is also hard to read. Definitely some little gems in there if you are particularly interested in fishing or the local genealogy. Has a nice cafe attached with seating that overlooks the harbour. We didn’t go in but was busy, as was the whole of the village.

This is a fascinating history of Polperro. We ‘popped in’ to avoid the rain and spent a good hour learning about the fishermen, pilchards, the smugglers and the founding families. Excellent value for money and so glad that we came across it.
