All the times we've been in St Ives and this was our first visit. They have some great finds and Eric and Terry really brought our visit to life with their local information and tales. We learnt a lot. If you love St Ives for being quaint, quirky and beautiful with a wonderful history this is definitely for you. It's... More

A nice enough place with an eclectic mix of things, bit really I prefer a gallery to tell a story, and there are too many bits of this and that, some only added as someone decided to get rid of it. One or two interesting artefacts. This needs a revamp and a spot of inspiration.

A lovely little museum tucked into a corner in St Ives. Very fascinating, and there's so much to see! I did enjoy the pieces of Victorian clothing on display, as well as the bits and bobs to do with local history (Georgian and regency era toys) as well as the small chapel in the basement area. I would have preferred... More

The museum has an interesting story to tell but they try too hard and it is really little more than a random accumulation of "stuff" that is too cluttered. You could remove 50% of the exhibits and have an interesting story to tell. One gets the impression that it is run by enthusiastic and well meaning volunteers who need help... More

There are some worthy and interesting exhibits in the museum but it's sterile, old fashioned, cluttered and haphazard and would put a lot of young people off museums. As ever though one has to recognise the time put in by volunteers

A fascinating museum just up from the quay. It has so much to see packed into it that there is a danger of information overload. We spent a couple of hours looking round but could quite easily have gone back again to take a more detailed look at some of the exhibits (we probably will the next time that we... More

The museum is based on the history of the town and mainly stored in old boxes and the best exhibits are the fishing and farming.

For £3 per person you can visit the museum and have a look at the local history. You need to take your time as it's not laid out that well, but there are lots of interesting bits in there. We were using the telescope when we spotted a seal on the beach so headed out to see that, but could... More

A really old fashioned museum and all the better for it. The sort of place my Dad would spend (it seemed) hours perusing and looking at every single item on display while me and my sister were eager to move on (probably to the arcade and Space Invader machines). Nowadays, this is just the sort of place I happily spend... More

This place is very reasonably priced. I think it cost 1 pound per person. If you want to get a real feel for the history of the area, then this museum is a must see. There are a lot of old pictures and items from the past. The building itself is old. The exhibits match the building. This is an... More
