St Ives Storyteller Shanty Baba has been enthralling and entertaining visitors to the town for the past decade. Check out his Lantern Ghost Storywalk..."the darker side of St Ives". It is a night that will haunt you for a long time to come. As an eerie darkness falls over the town, come with Shanty, as he light his hurricane lantern to tell you stories of ghosts, smugglers, murderers and other spirits of the night! And if you stay at the end, he will tell you a technique he learnt while living with a yogi in India that will let you look into the shadow lands beyond. No ifs, no buts. If you dare! His St Ives Pirate Walk is a broadside of entertainment, with pirate stories, instruction in the code and lessons in piratespeak. It is a fun filled youyage of piratical mayhem and laughter that appeals to young and old alike. Come dressed as pirate crew!

With a grown-up daughter and boyfriend, and our 13 year old son & his friend on holiday with us, we tried to do things to please everyone, and this ghost walk certainly did that! Shanty Baba is an excellent storyteller & we really enjoyed the ghost stories which were a mixture of gruesome, scary & some quite funny. We also... More

We really enjoyed, our ghost walk. Shanty was a brilliantly theatrical story teller. The stories were a mix of ghost & gruesome history of St Ives. I would definitely do another of Shanty's walks.

We had been on the Dorchester ghost walk previously so with an evening to spare whilst on holiday in St Ives we thought we would give this one a go. A very entertaining evening all in all. Shanty Baba is a really good theatrical storyteller and gives everything 100%. The stories may well be just old wives tales with a... More

I really enjoyed the ghost walk with Shanty - it was great to hear about the gruesome history of St Ives. Our guide was engaging and a natural storyteller, keeping both children and adults entertained.

We paid to go on the lantern ghost walk on our last night in St Ives. The nighttime setting with the crashing waves made the walk very atmospheric. The walk was 90minutes and took us all around St Ives. The storyteller was very good and interesting to listen to with a mix of historical facts and myths about St Ives.... More

Despite the fact that we had a perfect evening ( dark, still and warm) we (3 adults) found this tour dull and boring. The stories were so long that we lost interest , drifted off and couldn't even remember the end of the story. We have been on other ghost tours in other places all of which were excellent -... More

Our family of 4 (kids aged 7 and 8) thoroughly enjoyed the Pirate Walk. St Ives is stunning, and having such passionate local knowledge can only enhance an evenings stroll... Shanty oozes enthusiasm and delivers stories with a lot of energy and theatre. Take layers as the temperature drops suddenly when your out on the cliff paths - and be... More

We did the pirate walk with Shanty Baba. The walk lasts about 1 ¼ hours and involves a good walk around St Ives. There were a number of children on the walk (some as young as 6 or 7) and the walk was also perfectly pitched for them. Lots of tales and fun for children and adults alike.

An excellent evening of theatre. Inspired a ten year old to research the historical authenticity the next day.
