About
Kidz R Us is an extraordinary youth theatre group, working with around 100 young people a year, aged seven and up. A not-for-profit arts charity, we aim to encourage the participation of young people in the performing arts and behind-the-scenes crafts, both for their own personal development and the benefit of the wider community. Production standards are high and since being formed in 1994, we have produced over 70 shows and won numerous awards. Kidz R Us was a finalist in the Best Arts Project category of the 2010 National Lottery Awards and is a recipient of the prestigious Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. Our Artistic Director, Phil Barnett, was awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2012, and we are honoured to have Sir Tim Rice as our Patron.

- LeeLiverpool, United Kingdom716 contributionsLes Mis was fabulousEvery time we come to Cornwall, we visit this fantastic theatre group. This year we were lucky enough to see the performance ofLes Miserables and it was as good as ever. The only problem we found was that the theatre was not totally full, it is such a shame as the performance deserved a full audience. Keep up the good work and looking forward to coming back in the future.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 October 2023
- TravelingCarrotCornwall, United Kingdom5 contributionsFrozen, out of this world!WOW! What an incredible show from start to finish. There is so much going on, the most amazing singing, dancing & acting without even mentioning the little touches like snow falling, fireworks, confetti cannons and the incredible change in Elsa’s dress. The children thought this was the most magical thing in the world, the theatre felt like you were in a magical land, we particularly liked Oaken’s shop! We loved watching Elsa and Anna grow and seeing the different actors appear through these stages - so clever and such talented young ladies. The puppets were fab, another big hit with the kids. So much energy and fun! What a talented group of young adults, West End level performances from all of the main characters, you should be very proud! Thank you for making us feel extra festive this year.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 December 2023
- XXX7 contributionsFrozen the musicalFrozen the Musical Wow!! What a show and to make it magical before Xmas . Yet again this theatre pulls another amazing production. The theatre itself has been decorated and dressed impressively. The Oakens shack that sells slushies and merchandise was a really clever touch . The hallways with dark red colours and coats or armour and the picture frames all fitted the theme, the team that spent the time and effort behind the scenes deserves applause. I can only imagine the hours of hard work. To have the Broadway Elsa speak on the tannoy set the excitement for what was to happen . The show itself was incredible. The characters all so professional. Elsa and Anna just had an amazing chemistry it was beautiful both held their own in these lead roles, they had a presence and were professional and costumes were amazing. The voice of Elsa in 'Let it go' and the dress change so slick was fit for the West End. The whole cast so good . Particular notice to the duo Pabbie and Bulda, Oaken and Sven, Hans and Christoff and Olaf. The characterisations of their roles were spot on. No wonder this was a sell out it speaks for itself.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 December 2023

Wow! Wow! and Wow! We went to watch Matilda last night at the St Ives Theatre and I can honestly say that the performance was absolutely amazing. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. This performance would not look out of place on any West End stage. The talent amongst the children is phenomenal. I could go on and on but what I will say is if you are fortunate to live close to St Ives or are visiting over the summer you would be crazy not to go and see this production-it is fantastic value for money and I guarantee will be enjoyed by all. I only wish we were here for longer because we would defintely be booking to see it again.

I’ve just had the most fantastic night at St Ives theatre (1/6/22) seeing the musical ‘Calendar Girls’ performed by the adult cast at Kidz R Us
I laughed, I cried and experienced every emotion in between, as the brilliant acting and singing re told the story of how one Womens Institute stripped off to produce the now infamous, semi nude calendar and raised funds for their local hospital.
The performances by the brave cast were mind blowing, I was entranced, utterly enthralled and just so darn proud of them.
As the show ended the whole audience leapt up to give a long standing ovation, that simply couldn’t convey enough just how much we had all loved it.
I enjoyed it so much, I’m planning to go back and see it again when I return in the summer.
If your in the cast and reading this review, I just want to thank you very much for the best night out I’ve had in a long time .

This evening we watched the Kidz show of Matilda and it was fantastic. 1 adult , 1 child and a teenager as part of a large group booking and it was throughly enjoyable from start to finish. It is easy to see the amount of time, practice and hard work that goes on behind the scenes and on stage. I am also booked in to see an adults production in 2 weeks of Calendar Girls which I’ve also heard is a fantastic show. Well done all at KidzRus.

Do go, to Kidz R Us. Take your friends and your family. August/Sept 2022, there's something for everyone. Calendar Girls and Matilda. Feel good 'amateur', (but so not amateur), dramatics/musical performances. Some as good as, if not better, than stuff I've seen on the West End.
All to be found in the iconic, charming, and nothing quite like it St Ives Theatre where local people work behind the scenes and on the stage like the super troupers they are to bring these show stopping performances to the stage. All of them volunteers, young and old alike, which makes it all very special.
So lucky to live here and have this on my doorstep, so if you're visiting, make it a number one priority. You won't regret it.
Oh, and you'll be able to afford an interval tipple/ice cream without breaking the bank, served by smiling and friendly local volunteers. What's not to like?

I'm a huge fan of musicals, but not necessarily of amature productions, however, I booked tickets to The Greatest Show for me and the wife, as something to do while we were in St Ives.
It was incredible!
It was well choreographed, and the kids were brilliant performers. After the show I immediately booked tickets to Dis-enchanted, and again, we were not let down - another incredible well performed musical.
I can't recommend Kidz R Us enough, seriously, book a show and you will not be disappointed!

I enjoyed a fabulous night with my family group ranging in age from 12 to 85! The Greatest Show was a compilation of show tunes performed by the young people of StIves and surrounding areas. Miss the lines for food for one night, sit back and be entertained by great singing, choreography and sheer enthusiasm. Tremendouz.

Amazing . This was a truly faultless show which expressed the talent , hard work and dedication from everyone involved . The atmosphere was great with a performance that was bordering on professional . Me and my friends loved every minute of it , from Seussical to Hamilton and to seeing my mate wearing a silvery wig . Everyone should be extremely proud of themselves . Would completely recommend !

Is disenchanted appropriate for young children (7 and 9)
Written 4 August 2021
Although the content is quite racy at times, much of the innuendo goes over the heads of very young children. However it may be a difficult conversation for parents after a performance trying to explain why the princesses were behaving the way they did and sung what they did.😁😁

I think Mary Poppins would be the best one, and maybe get a seat on the end of a row if you need to have a walk around outside if your little one needs a brief leg stretch!
I’d say the stalls for that reason.
Enjoy!

Are you better sitting in stalls or balcony? Never been to this theatre before.

St Ives Theatre seats 321, so isn't too big. All seats provide a good view of the stage. Downstairs in the stalls you are closer to the action and feel more a part of it. Up in the balcony you get a better view of the staging, looking down on the action. Give the box office a call to discuss your specific requirements.
