Avoid at all costs - Inflated prices for terrible food
Aug 2020 • Family
What a terrible meal! We ordered a burger with cheese and bacon without bread, crispy duck with pancakes and the special - lemon sole in a lemon, parsley and butter sauce. The burger came with bread but no cheese or bacon, the duck was deep fried which is pretty disgusting and the sole was in a soup of butter. We had to ask for a bowl to pour away the butter. We were so hungry we ate it and were then refused any discount because we hadn’t complained enough. Horrific food at horrific prices, avoid avoid avoid.

Great food in a great Cornish pub.
Mar 2019 • Couples
First time we have been to this pub, had Sunday roast, I had beef and my wife had chicken.
Both meals were first class and were ample portions at a good price (£10.95 each).
Had to wait a while for the food to come, but could understand the wait as the pub was very busy so not a problem.
Lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely even though they were all working 'flat out'.
We used the upstairs dining area, which also has a terrace overlooking the harbour with supurb views.
Definately go there again and we can highly recommend it.

Amazing food, service and value for money. Great attention to detail taken to create a lovely Christmas works party.

Small and quaint
We had a beer here overlooking the sea. They have two real ales on offer, we sat outside which gate a good view of the pier with boats coming and going.

Ordered takeaway on Friday the 19/08/2016
Aug 2016 • Couples
It was so shocking. I have never ever written a review but was so appalled at the takeaway that we ordered yesterday for collection at 6.30 pm.

We ordered two of their so called famous hamburgers with bacon and cheese and fries.
The burgers had egg on it, I dont eat egg

the fries were clearly left overs from the day service and had been reheated I presume in a microwave , they were certainly not fresh.and neither myself or my husband could eat them. They had no salt on them nor was any sachets sent with them. I spoke clearly to the person I ordered from that we were staying in the hotel next door but my husband wanted a hamburger!!!!
There was no lettuce, tomato on the burger and no sauce of any kind nor was anything offered or sent with .

My apologies for any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar, I am disabled so apologise for any mistakes. Am just so angry, my husband was vomiting most of the night . I just could not eat it and went to co-op for cheese and crackers later on.

And for this appalling so called food. My husband was charged £23.00

Weekend break
Oct 2012 • Couples
We ate at the Victory twice over a long weekend. Friendly staff and prompt, efficient service. Average prices, but good value. Nothing to complain about except a few of the chairs were past sell-by date, creaky and a bit tatty. But overall a good experience

Great Place for a Party
Sep 2012 • Friends
We had a big birthday party for 18 people upstairs at the Victory Inn which was fantastic. We had the whole room to ourselves with a little balcony and terrace which had a big harvest moon shining straight on it. We didn't even have to pre-order our mains (although we had pre-ordered lobsters for our starters just in case) and everyone was able to have what they wanted from a really good menu with lots of choice. Our waiter was so patient with us because we were a bit noisy. The food was excellent and everyone was happy with their choice. The wine list is a bit limited but the ones they have were good and not too pricey. Highly recommend this lovely pub but probably worth booking ahead because it is very popular.

Redecoration compromised quality
May 2012 • Couples
We booked a table in advance by telephone and were sorry that the proprietor did not mention that the premises were undergoing renovation and that the dining room upstairs was closed. We ate in the bar from a disappointingly limited menu. I'm not a great one for walking out of places - we had booked and we were expected and we sat it out and it was all good-humoured enough - but this was the most disappointing evening of out stay in Cornwall. By now the scaffolding is doubtless down and the dining room open and some cooking probably being undertaken, but we had hoped for better than we were given. A fish and chip van parked elsewhere the village was doing a good trade and would have suited us quite as well as The Victory on this particular evening.

Great place!
Apr 2012
A two night stay in the Victory with two teenage sons was perfect. The rooms although not pristine were more that adequate with all the usual facilities. As it is a pub there is the expected noise although it did not disturb us. The position of the place is perfect for walking, ferry, shops and good food. The staff were all very friendly and polite. We had a great time, I would recommend it but do remember it is not 5* !
