My two sisters and I, all 60 plus, stayed a week in Lostwithiel this year. A car was never in our itinerary so before arriving we contacted Susan from Cornish Heritage Safaris and told her what we wanted to see in (1) the Penzance area, and (2) another day in the Port Isaacs area. She was more than happy to accommodate our needs but also suggested stone circles, ruins of an ancient Roman village, a mystical waterfall and much more. These places were off the beaten track and some accessible by having to walk through paddocks, but this made it all the more special as they were not the normal touristy venues and we would never have found them ourselves.

Susan was a wonderful guide and was so knowledgable of the area. Nothing was a problem for her and she was such a nice person to have had the pleasure to meet.

We booked with Susan to visit Tintagel, and then over the course of our correspondence expanded our visit into a full 7 days. Nothing was too much trouble for Susan. She collected us from Swindon, and stopped at Avebury and Bath on the way to Tintagel.
The next day we visited Port Isaac (Doc Martin country) and Tintagel Castle. The day after we went to Lanhydrock via Bodmin Moor, the day after that to The Eden Project. The next day we were all off to Liverpool, via overnight stops near Tintern Abbey, and in Shrewsbury. With stops at Goodrich Castle and the charming towns of Ludlow, and Ironbridge along the way.
Throughout it all Susan was cheerful, knowledgeable and an excellent guide. She kept us informed throughout, answering our questions and researching where she felt necessary.
We were sorry when she left us in Liverpool, we greatly enjoyed our time together. We wish it could have been for longer, or we could return to Cornwall. Thank you!

During two days, I had a great time with Susan, the director of the travel agency who prepared for me a program based on my interest about this area and also linked to my passion for English Literature and some of some writers who wrote or lived in Cornwall. We visited Tintagel surrounded by the Arthurian myth and legend and enhanced by the dramatic scenery which it is located, the fishing villages such as Port Isaac and Boscastle, St Juliot chapel, hidden in the forest, at sunset, the stunning Roche Rock with the chapel perched on the top and the legend about Tristan and Isolde, the moors with its ancients stones, circles... Susan has a great knowledge of history, literature and legends of all places and she made me enjoy during the travelling, even chosen good food and tasty Cornish beers in traditional pubs of our route. I can't wait to come back next year to discover other places in the magical and charming Cornwall.

We spent two full days with Susan from Cornish Heritage Safaris. She was a brilliant guide and she used her local knowledge to show us bits of north Cornwall we would never have thought to visit! She was able to hold the interest of myself, my partner and our children (aged 11 & 8) with tales of local witches, legends and myths, and even answer my sons never ending questions about the local geology! She adapted the tour to suit our family, the kids especially enjoyed The Rocky Valley, Bodmin Moor and Tintagel Castle, while my partner and I enjoyed Betjemen,Beer & Bicyles - especailly the Beer bit! We would certainly use the company again!

Firstly let me start by saying that as a single mum with a stroppy teen I thought I would have problems finding things we would both enjoy in Cornwall. How wrong I was.

Susan was recommended by a friend and she spent a lot of time giving us options and plans, such great ideas that I would never have thought of myself. We gained local knowledge, had a fantastic walk with breathtaking views, saw things that we would never have found if we had stayed there for a month. Lunch was provided in a lovely pub off the beaten track, we were taken wherever we needed to be by an expert. Susan was so friendly and we would love to do it again.

Our trip to Cornwall was so much richer with the help of Susan Hockey who toured us around. She picked us up at Heathrow one day and then on another took us to see the sights. We visited tin minds, Mount St. Micheal, the home of Doc Martin and Roman ruins. Her insight was great and we all had a wonderful time. She personalized the tour to the items we wanted to see. I highly recommend her as a guide.

We spent the day touring with Susan. She has so much knowledge of the area's history and folklore. We thoroughly enjoyed every part of the day. Our favorite parts were the old churchs and then the castle site in Tintagel. Thank you so much for showing us a varied day seeing things we would not have seen or known about otherwise.

Susan, the owner/guide of Cornish Heritage Safaris, is the local friend we wish we all had. If you are interested in exploring Cornwall in a no rushed, educational, fun, friendly way, then this tour is for you. It's hard to call it a tour, because Susan makes you feel like a friend. I began with a walking tour with Susan to St. Nectan's Glen along the coastal path and through fields of sheep and cows that was amazing! She is chock full of Cornwall history, past and present. Her walks are at "your own pace" and I was lucky enough to meet and walk along with her two beautiful dogs (that are better behaved than my 3 children!) I also spent the day with her on the "Far West Tour" and another whole day on the "Bodmin Moor Tour". Both days were magical and began with Susan picking me up at my accommodations' in Tintagel at 9:30am. My days were filled with touring in a comfy Landcruiser? Making stops along the way at ancient stone circles, churches, dolmens and villages to name but a few. Lunch stops were at lovely little English cafes where locals gathered or a fresh picnic overlooking the ocean. Plenty of bathroom breaks when necessary, tea and scone breaks, as well as impromptu stops peaked my interest. Susan is very flexible with her schedule and will adjust it to meet your direct needs. I was sad to leave and will always contact Susan and Cornwall Heritage Safaris when in Cornwall.

Saw an advert in History Magazine and spoke to Susan re booking a tour which would cover 'places off the beaten track'. Then threw in that one of the party was on crutches and another had just had an operation and couldn't walk very far!! Needn't have worried. Susan put together a bespoke tour which took us from Neolithic rock formations to Arthurian waters, from Reformation stained glass to Cornwall's mining heritage. Susan's extensive knowledge of History, geology, the mythical and anecdotal tales of times past made this a truly individual, brilliant day out.

We (an American family including my mom, two sisters and my brother and his family) were more than satisfied with our experience with Susan Hockey. She did a great job of showing us beautiful sights in Cornwall, but the experience of riding in her Land Rover while she explained various points about the area was just as much fun. This was our first trip to England and Susan spent three full days with our family. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and well prepared. Thanks for supplying the rain coats and rain pants! We truly experienced the magic & mystery of Cornwall thanks to Susan!
