Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've been on multiple trips lead by Tom and Hugo and have had an absolute blast every time. Genuinely couldn't recommend Trail Unknown enough to anyone, from those just looking to get into mountain biking all the way to highly experienced mountain bikers! 5* experience!

The day was fantastic, from Hugo and Tom's welcome to the detail put in to the planning of the trails and the care taken to ensure everybody just felt at ease on the ride. If you like mountain biking, want to ride new trails and meet like minded people this is for you.
Great day, Great people, :)

This was my forth ride with Tom and Hugo and second time with them showing us around Exmoor.

The forecast wasn't great and by the time we hit the moorland we had torrential rain and high winds. But, due to the dedication Tom and Hugo put in before any ride they know all the best trails to hit in any weather.

The first guided tour in Exmoor was completely different to the second so it is great to ride different trails that will leave you smiling all day and ready for more.

If you think you know all the trails in your area, just give these guys a go.. . you will be surprised!!

A professionally led weekend break exploring the forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Both Hugo and Tom were great guides and took us through an amazingly beautiful part of the Forest of Dean. Everything organised in advanced. All I had to do was turn up and was then looked after very well. Great accommodation to, clean tents and lovely food. Would like to do it all again. Thank you

This company along with a select few should be should be holding their hands up in shame! They profit out of the Surrey Hills ((AONB) area, yet contribute sweet FA to any form of trail maintenance, trail building, general helping out etc etc. However are more than happy to make money out of other people’s hard work.

Just a word of advice, if you are going to profit, from your so called ‘guided’ rides, at the very least leave a beer or £20 behind the bar for the trail pixies that have built the trail you’ve happily taken people down for your own gain!

Great trip lead by Tom and Hugo. Guiding added to the value as we were treated to all the best single-track. We were an experienced group but they were happy to cater to any level and have female guides if preferred for ladies groups. Nothing to much trouble and good knowledge of the best tea shops!
We,'ll be back

Spent a great weekend on Exmoor with Hugo and Tom as part of a private group. As a bunch of experienced mountain bikers who have self-guided for years the difference in having guides was huge - we went to all the best trails without spending hours pouring over maps, which meant more riding and more fun. Hugo and Tom judged the group dynamic well and picked routes accordingly. Their knowledge of Exmoor tea rooms is substantial! They even made time for some skills training during a lull in the riding fixing a puncture.

All in all an excellent weekend and I have no doubt that their varied offering will appeal to riders (both male and female) across the full spectrum of ability.

Looking forward to seeing them in the Surrey Hills.

Fantastic weekend on Exmoor with Tom & Hugo. Riding with (excellent) guides makes such a difference - every descent was fantastic fun, there’s no stopping at every junction to make sure you’re on the right track, all the trails linking up really nicely and great local knowledge on the best food stops. Lots of happy bikers.

I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Trail Unknown to anyone who loves getting out & riding natural trails; we’ll definitely be using them again. Just debating where to go next!

8 of us had an epic guided weekend based out of Porlock. Started from hotel both days & covered different aspects of the moor. Plenty of climbing, which obviously equals plenty of descending. We were taken to the best trails - open moorland, slowly descending / contouring, gnarly steep single track with switch backs &river crossings. Also some awesome sea views. Totally worth having guides - no getting lost, no ending up on dud tracks & best recommendations for cake stops. Saturday's ride finished in the pub & Sunday's at the ice cream shop - I approve.

My 15yo son and I spent las Sunday riding around the Quantocks with the TU team and enjoyed a magnificent day. Hugo, Tom and the crew were superb guides and, despite my erratic descending skills, provided an inclusive experience that my son (good rider) and myself (bad rider) thoroughly loved. Would heartily recommend.
