Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Family of 6, Two adults and 4 young teens.
Sam picked us up from our campsite for the drive down to the river exe canal.
We Booked the pub paddle, which is a selection of boards and kayaks, but as there were no other guests we were able to just choose what ever we wished so took a double kayak and 4 single kayaks.
Again as it was just us we went solo and there was a choice from the landing can paddle up the canal towards Exeter and double locks pub, or paddle down to the turf hotel where the canal joins the estuary.
Lovely leisurely solo paddle as a family, and stop at the turf hotel for snacks and a drink ( Note the turf hotel does require you to be sat a table so if it is busy and you haven't booked then you need to wait but it was only 15 - 20 mins on a sunny sat afternoon)
3 hours total, then dropped back at our campsite, so it is excellent value for money. And great service
Will definitely use again and probably just book the board and boat rental so can just choose what we would like.

Great afternoon in kayaks and paddleboards with a cheeky stop for a few beers (and cokes) and chips thrown in. Picked up from site, assisted in to the water and three hours of paddling all made for a great value for money experience for 7 of us. Thoroughly recommend.

We had a lovely outing we had children 6, 10 and 12. Myself and 6 year old in a twin kayak, my fiancé in a single kayak, 10 year old son in a kayak and 12 year old daughter on a paddle board. We went down to the turf pub had a drink then paddled back. Be careful of the thick weed as you can get stuck in it as we found out with paddle board and ended up giving a rescue tow. Was a really good way to kill a few hours it was quite expensive but think it was a really good experience as a family think to get out in the great outdoors. Would recommend going down to the pub as then we were with current on way back to make it easier for tired children. Thank you Sam and Lily for your help

Highly recommend this activity, all adults and kids had a great time (all 12 of us). The organiser Sam picked us up, gave us some quick lessons and made sure everything ran smoothly. Good selection of SUPs, kayaks and larger canoes so everybody had a go on something different. Paddled the mile or so down to a lovely pub called the Turf with views over the Exe estuary. Couple of pints and some good food and we paddled back up where Sam took us back to the site. Great way to end our holidays. Would definitely do this again if we're ever down that way, reasonably priced and a very accommodating organiser.

Had a thoroughly good time kayaking and paddleboarding on the canal close to the Exe. The hugely laidback Sam called us in response to our online enquiry to arrange the hire, offering to collect and return us to our accommodation too. The equipment was top quality and the kids had a great time learning how to paddle up and down the still waters of the canal. In better times Sam recommends progressing from the basics to undertaking a half hour paddle up to the pub, a (non-alcoholic!) drink and then a paddle back but sadly the pub opening is presently a little limited. Nonetheless a really good experience, highly recommended.

Sam is great. We travel down to Devon yearly in August and go kayaking everytime we come with him. Myself, husband and 3 dogs (2xbichon and 1xgolden retriever) are always welcomed. There's plenty of room for the dogs and they thoroughly enjoy it. They always get fussed as well. The pub at the end is a bonus. They serve amazing food and drink.
We also met Andrew Who is helping Sam he was lovely and very helpful

We booked Exe Adventures' Paddle to the Pub package for a group of 8 friends celebrating our 40th birthdays, and it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. The booking process was smooth thanks to Sam's clear and helpful communication. On the day, we were picked up right on time, and the equipment provided was in excellent condition. The clear (and fun!) guidance and instructions ensured that we felt comfortable and safe on the water. The Turf pub was also stunning, friendly, picturesque and the food was delicious. We all left wanting to do it again if we find ourselves in the area. Highly recommend Exe Adventures for a fun and well-organised outdoor activity!

We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon on canoes and paddle boards. Very good value for money. Our children aged 11 & 13 thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We had to meet there as due to covid 19 Sam could only transport 1 family in the bus, this wasn’t a problem though, it was only 15 min drive from our campsite and there was free parking at the meeting point. Sam was very helpful, equipment was great and we saw Sam thoroughly cleaning it before use. Fantastic & enjoyable experience.

Excellent way to spend a few hours and get to see some beautiful scenery while navigating down the Exeter canal. A nice stop off at the pub for a bite and a pint. Sam and his assistant Rory are top guys, super friendly and interesting to talk with. They picked us up and dropped off at our accommodation, gave us good instruction on how to use our paddleboards as my partner was a first timer and great price for what you get out of experience. We will definitely be hiring from Sam next time we're in dawlish. Kyle + Kat

We booked three single kayaks with Sam today it was a brillant experience so relaxing but hard work at times through the algae. There were two different routes with a pub stop along the way. Sam was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend this company thank you so much
