Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited the Brewery with a party of friends. We had pre-booked and ordered our preferred pies before visiting. On arrival we were greeted and shown to the seating area with a choice of inside or outside. As I cannot drink and enjoy light beers only dark mild which they did not have I had a pint of their stout. This was a lovely drink and I would go back especially to enjoy this drink. As I am fussy about how I like my pies I can only say I was very pleased with it having the minted lamb version. The staff were very helpful and I would recommend visiting here. The pie, mash and peas including a drink cost £15 which I thought was a good price.
Will go again next time I'm in Exeter !!

Pre-booked a table in the tap room for drinks and food. We were greeted and asked to sign ourselves in. Very friendly staff. We initially had a table inside and later went outside to watch the trains go by whilst having drinks. Tables arranged to allow for social distancing. Good range of beers to choose from. We enjoyed our choice of pies, served with mash, minted peas and gravy which came in a disposable box to be thrown away in bin provided after use. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Great hospitality in the tap room. Very friendly.
Good range of Exeter's beers to choose from (four).
The pie and peas, with mash are great (£10), with plenty of meat. (A good range of pies to choose from).

We live locally and are spoiled for choice for real ale pubs, but we go to the Brewery often. Firstly, their beers (esp Avocet and Ferryman) are to die for. Secondly the pies are wonderful. Thirdly, where else can yo sit outside on a lovely summer's evening and wave to the people on trains coming in and out of the station.

Absolute lovely. The only downside is that on the occasions that the local bike club hit the bar, stayign inside can be less appealing than being in the fresh air...

We have been meaning to visit for a long time and now we are very glad to have been. We went for a drink and we were impressed with how nice it is and what a nice atmosphere. We didn't eat but everyone seemed to be enjoying their pie and mash.

We had a wonderful evening in the tap room in a nice little spot. Outstanding service both for food (pies were top drawer) and the beer which was served by a really knowedgeable and friendly barman. An experience that I would highly recommend.. we could have stayed all night!!

Aug 2017 • Family
So hubby was on a mission to visit. Lots of googling revealed that the brewery offer a 'pie and mash' night every Thursday, 5-9pm. So after a brief visit to the brewery shop in the afternoon, we returned with family (6 of us in total, 2 teenagers, 4 adults) for dinner. We asked and there was no need to book, though might be wise to ring ahead just in case. The brewery opens its beautiful hidden gem of a bar every Thursday. Perfect for those while love a good beer (no need to eat you can just sit and sup), situated very close to St David's station, you can watch the trains coming in and out. The pies are locally made and highly acclaimed 'Tom's Pies'. 4 on offer each evening. ( steak and ale, chicken ham and leek, (spicy lamb and chorizo, spinach and truffle oil for our visit). Each served with minted peas and mash. Simple but totally and utterly delicious.
Cannot wait to be in Exeter visiting family again and we will make sure we are there on a Thursday!
