Used the railway to get down from Lynton to Lynmouth and back. Great British engineering at its best ! Well maintained attraction, and friendly staff full of local knowledge ! Fantastic views , and cheap at £3.80 return ( there is a path if you only want to ride one way ) Great day out.

To see something so old, so rare , so wonderful is always amazing. This place is amazing. Well maintained, clean, cheerful staff, yes it costs, but it is well worth it to keep this magnificent Victorian piece of engineering running.

Checked for opening times in early February, but only gave 2016 dates. However an email got a rapid response letting me know it would be open for half term week. Grandaughter really enjoyed the trip, even though it was quite a cold Monday morning. Being February, there seemed to be as many locals using it as commuter transport as tourists.

Apart from saving you the enormous climb up to Lynton from Lynmouth, marvel at this perfectly-working piece of ingenious Victorian engineering as you gaze out to sea and admire the view across the Bristol Channel to Wales.

Worth spending the money and taking this trip between Lynton and Lynmouth, certainly beats walking up the hill! The member of staff on the carriage i was on was very good and informative and easily approachable. You also get great views over the North Devon and Somerset coastline on your journey. It can take a wheelchair but as you have... More
