We came for an educational trip and were blown away by the knowledge and understanding the host managed to impart. The building itself is stunning, so much history and meaning...and so interesting! The adults were as engaged as the children :) We're going to book back in for another of the talks, maybe the history or culture one. Definitely recommend... More

An excellent and informative tour of the Synagogue and it's place in the history of Plymouth. Opportunities to ask questions of the very knowledgable guide and a real insight into the Synagogue worship and traditions

Jerry gave an excellent talk about the history of Plymouth from many years ago. Showing maps of the old city and how it has changed over the years. Jerry explained all about the Synagogue and the Jewish history attached to the building.

There is something special about this old synagogue The Staibed glass windows are a soft pink and soft blue and the imagery is glorious The small wooden interior has a very calming aura I was there to say Kaddish memorial prayers for my late brother The members were the most accommodating and kind people and I was made to feel... I enjoyed my recent visit to Plymouth Synagogue as part of a group from Compton Methodist Church. Jerry, the tour guide, was able to provide a wealth of information setting the synagogue in its historic context and providing information on the customs and practices of the Jewish faith. Jerry has a light hearted and witty style and has a huge... More

Moor's Edge U3A had a visit arranged to the Synagogue; Jerry the custodian had a group of around 20 of us totally engaged listening to him. He is passionate about keeping the building and its history alive and was a font of knowledge. We heard about the history of early Plymouth and why a Jewish community was set up in... More

We visited this very old Synagogue with a group from our Church and found it very interesting. Beautiful inside and even tasted some kosher biscuits with a cup of tea. Apparently it's the oldest Ashkenazy Synagogue in Europe.
