Just returned from an evening wander through the beautifully lit Saltram House and Gardens. About half a dozen of the West Wing rooms beautifully decorated and lit and the magnificent trees creatively illuminated. Well worth a visit. Open until the new year I think.

Somebody has spent a lot of time thinking up fairy story themes and then decorating the rooms. We went with friends and we had to use a wheelchair. The staff and volunteers couldn't have been more helpful. Also, when we reached the kitchens, we had freshly baked mince pies.

Saltram House (in the care of the National Trust) is one of Devon's gems: a fine 18th century mansion with a Tudor core. And although this Christmas you won't be able to see the wonderful saloon or dining room,... More

We have visited Saltram and have enjoyed the festive fayre over the years although last year we gave it a miss because there was nothing new or interesting. However we decided to give it another go this year but it soon became apparent that the National Trust have become very greedy. They "kindly" waived the £3 carparking fee in favour... More

Saltram House is probably the finest Georgian period property in the country. The former residence of the Parker family it contains all its original furniture and a wealth of paintings, some by Sir Joshia Reynolds. I have visited it on many occasions and never tire of finding out more information about the house and family from the the knowledgeable and... More
