Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

an amazing experience that everyone needs to try! booked for my sisters 30th birthday, you get a choice of music a full safety briefing and 30 minutes between you of full on carnage and rage! Safe to say me and my sister were completely mellowed out when leaving, it is so knackering and warm in there so the bottled waters were a plus afterwards! my favourite was the keyboards, all the little blocks flying everywhere with the metal pole 👀 our boyfriends think we are more chilled so we will definitely make this a more regular accurate 😂🙌🏻

How cool, you get all your results sent to your e-mail address before you get chance to get your helmet off!!😊😊👍

ASK FOR PAYMENT IN FULL IN ADVANCE WITH NO LEEWAY FOR ERRORS OR THE NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE - RUDE MANAGER WHO IS A BULLY - We booked for Wed 30th Aug, and due to a mix up got the date wrong and thought it was for 31st Aug. We immediately contacted them, apologised and asked if there was anything they could do to help - Dave the Manager wrote a very aggressive answer saying NO as we had signed T&C. I went back to ask if there was any leeway, as we would happily pay an "admin fee", and to say I was unhappy with the tone and service and would make my grievances public. He replied basically bullying me saying I had threatened him and telling me I was rude. I asked to escalate this but he offered me no confidential option to do this. The General Manger did get back to me for which I was grateful but did not offer any resolution. We originally went there in Feb and rebooked because it was fun and the front of house staff were great, however Management do not meet these same standards and as such we will not be returning. I will not be bullied and intimidated into not posting a bad review so here it is!

Thanks for your review, Claire.
As per the emails you were sent. You enquired about "Wicked Wednesday" for the cheaper offer. It wasn't until the day of your booking that you had decided that this wasn't the correct date. Our terms and conditions are fair, 7 days with a full refund, 48 hours before means you lose the deposit of £10pp. You had contacted us on the day of your booking to reschedule. We have researched competitors and they are much more strict than us. David did his job as he is not authorised to offer any compensation and did send on your complaint correctly to our GM. The general manager followed our policy. It's unfortunate that you do not agree to the terms you agreed to when booking but we are an independent business, and any sessions booked means that no other party can fill the slot which inevitably means we lose money. We have employees to pay and they have mouths to feed also. We cannot please everyone. Had you come to us within the 2 and bit weeks of booking, we could have accommodated your group. But as you contacted us on the day of booking, our hands were tied. We hope this error isn't made in the future to whoever you book with in the future.

Great afternoon out, go karting and laser tagging.
Cold miserable cafe/ viewing area.
Juniors enjoyed it.
Quite expensive , spent less than 1 hour there and cost £40 for two juniors

Thanks for your review. We're glad the children enjoyed themselves and you got to use 2 out of our 3 activities.
As you can tell from the art work we'vehad done, we're getting there with the decoration! But as this doesn't affect our participants, our main priority is to focus on what we can provide and make it as fun and safe as possible.
Karting is an expensive sport and we are the cheapest in the South West!
We hope the children come back to visit for some more fun in the future

We visited the rage room for a date day today, I feel terrible as I didn't take the ladies name who looked after us and guided us through the experience, however, to plymouty karting our session was at 11 and she was absolutely brilliant so please pass on our thankyous!
The centre itself was clean and tidy and the rage room was such food fun, everything was explained well before hand and we knew exactly what to expect. Will highly recommend and definitely return at some point! Thankyou

Had a great time karting last night, our party of four ranged from 9 year old to 80 year old. all the staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. We arrived early enough to eat in the cafe and the food was really good. I would definitely recommend a visit for relaxed fun, and we will be returning soon.

This man here wouldn't refund a ticket after a friend wasnt able to Attend due to a family tragedy. We werent able to give 48 hour notice due to it being booked less than 24hours beforehand.
We asked if the monetary value of the ticket could be credited towards refreshments but our polite and fair ask was dismissed instantly.
This is the 3rd and last time I visit this establishment.
They are a money hungry business with no regard for customer satisfaction - during these tough times they'd rather fill their pockets.

Thanks for your review T Hibbs! Although we have already explained ourselves on your Google review which was removed by Google themselves for false information, we will also reply here as well.
It does appear that you are trying to ruin the reputation of a business due to your lack of communication and because things dont go your way i.e reviewing Mecca Bingo poorly because "old people keep winning"...
We are truly sorry to hear that your friend may have had a family tragedy. We looked at our system for your name and it notified us that your group were the group who came in and approached the desk telling us your friend couldn't make it with no reason as to why. Had we been informed, we could have helped but without all the facts, we have to refer to our policy and leaves us in no position to grant a refund due to someone not showing up. All companies have terms and conditions and ours are readily available on our website at all times, as well as when you receive an email from booking online or via telephone.
We are aware you didn't have prior consent to taking a photo of our marshal and putting it online, he also had no authority to grant a refund.
Managers can grant refunds at their own discretion but you happened to be extremely rude to our staff on 29/8. No company should tolerate the abuse our employees were subjected to, so going forward, we will not be accepting any bookings under the names visited on 29/8. We are most certainly not money hungry, we have a business to run amd staff to pay, we offer more deals than any kart track to keep costs down for our customers and are known for our community efforts.
Best of luck finding another establishment that will stand for you treating their staff so poorly 👍

We booked for an arrive and drive session during our holiday in Cornwall. Due to the site being so close to the Devon Express Way I thought we would give this a go.
Booking was a breeze, standard pricing for karting, so no problems there. Even added a session of laser tag to burn the kids energy after for a very reasonable price.
Arrived to the site to find parking was a bit of a nightmare. But this was only because a telecoms company were also booked in and all had taken their own work vans, so there wasn't many spaces left. However, found a slot near the entrance and proceeded to check in.
Upon arriving to the reception counter, a young lady greeted us and took my details. Explained that we needed to register on the iPads including our young ones. Simple!
While waiting for our session, we happily watched the current session from the cafe window, with both my children getting more excited by the minute.
Next, we were called in for our briefing and this was second to none. Everything explained nice and clear and consise. However, this is were my worries started. Having been karting before, at other venues, I was a little worried about my youngest son, as he has ASD. He would need to remember the colour of lights, what to do for each one. What do each of the flags mean etc. All while being in control of a kart... gulp.
Our session was next, so I tried to explain everything again to my youngest to make sure he understands and we went out. I had a quick chat with the staff to let them know my concerns and this was taken on board. I could hear he radioed through to the team to make them all aware. And that's were my worries stopped.
The staff were fantastic. Making sure he understood everything, keeping an eye on him, checking in with him. Giving him extra support and most importantly encouragement. My fear was that the staff would assume he was being dangerous and ask him to leave the kart. However, I was so far from wrong. After our single session was over, he was given a high five from a marshal and iv never seen his face gleaming with a smile from cheek to cheek before. He was thrilled!!
We then went straight into our laser tag session, which again was organised perfectly. All rules explained and off we went. And again, another activity provided by Plymouth Karting which was second to none.
We were due to leave our holiday on Saturday and due to our first experience, I was crazed by both children to go back one more time. So, I booked another 3x sessions for the Saturday. And once again, the staff were fantastic, not only with my ASD child, but with all other children out during the sessions.
The track was closed for 30mins while barrier repairs were carried out and during this, we were kept updated on progress, time frames etc. There was a few low level bumping from a few children who just wanted to clip the kart on front of them to try and overtake and this was nipped in the bud the second it was spotted by the marshals.
Having read some of the other reviews on here, I just wanted to add my views. Firstly, the session times. 10 minutes is pretty standard for most karting venues and while I do think this could be raised to around 15 minutes due to stoppage times I completely understand how some riders would start to have fatigue issues and this could be even more dangerous. I couldn't of imagined my son completing 15mins for he first ever karting session, however I could have gone for another 10 mins. So while it doesn't seem long, it's the right balance for all involved.
Secondly, the stoppage times. Yes, it does put a dampner on the session when that dreaded red light comes on. If two, or more, karts were bumped the session is stopped to make sure everyone is okay. I was involved in a small collision, nothing major, however the session was stopped and a marshal checked to make sure the youngster that hit me was okay, as well as myself. And that in its own shows that Plymouth Karting put safety above anything else. I would actually feel uneasy if it was just ignored and the session continued.
The next time I'm in Devon or Cornwall visiting family, this will certainly be on the list to do again! Utterly fantastic.

Wow! This has got to be our favourite review to date.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for leaving such a lovely detailed review.
We really do put health and safety first and it is so important to us that anyone that visits us, can see just how important it is and how much our amazing team care for our customers. Especially for many children that can find certain aspects of what we do, challenging. This can be anything from wearing balaclavas, putting on helmets, a simple lack of confidence or first time racers who may feel slightly intimidated. We will always do everything we can to put them at ease and make them feel as comfortable as possible.
We are so thrilled that you recognised our team efforts and that you want to visit us again 😀
If a red light is caused on our circuit, we do our best to minimise stoppage time but we also understand that sometimes this can take longer than it should depending on the circumstance, so we do sometimes add time on to sessions if it's a fault of ours or if a particular group or individual is causing disruption 🙂 after all, you're there to race, not sit in an idle kart!
It truly is a breath of fresh air to read your review, we cannot thank you enough.
And to also mention our laser tag arena 🙂 we're biased and think it's amazing, but we know the karting draws our customers in so this added activity can sometimes be forgotten about 😅 we're so glad you enjoyed laser tag.
We can't wait for you to visit family again and welcome you all back.

Go karts are brilliant however the staff are very rude and judge you by your looks there was a person crashing into everyone and the other drivers all agreed it was the same person however I got kicked out without a warning because it wasn’t me they assumed it was because I was in a balaclava and tracksuit they’re very judgemental other then that karts are brilliant

Thanks for your review, Cory!
We most certainly are not judgemental. All of our customers wear balaclavas as we provide them. And we have nothing against anyone wearing tracksuits. Your group were not allowed further sessions due to the way you were driving on the circuit. Health and Safety is paramount.
The rules are mentioned to you before participating. Several of our marshals deemed your group unsafe and refused your other sessions which you were given a full refund for and you were also asked to come back at a quieter time.
Usually, with the behaviour our staff had to encounter, your group would have been banned from the premises but we chose to give you a refund and politely ask that you come back at a quieter time.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone deemed a danger to themselves or others; This can be found on signs and in the terms and conditions you agree to when signing in.
We are glad that you enjoy the karts though!

Fantastic day for my son’s 10th birthday. We booked a gold birthday package with added laser tag for 6 10 year old boys. The whole experience was fab, it was well organised and well managed by the marshals, who were patient and approachable. The pre-ordered food from the cafe was delivered to the table just as their final race finished so was perfect timing. It was tasty and enjoyed by all. Overall a fantastic experience, and I think we have 6 new go-kart converts, we will definitely be back! Thank you.
