Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've been here many times and it never fails to disappoint. The selection of wine is superb and the staff, especially Elisa, Millie and Eddie, are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It's a great place to go to try wine, buy some, and generally just hang out with friends. The food's great too and you can attend a wine tasting event to discover more about wine and try new ones. You can even book your own private tasting. What more could you want?

What a fabulous little venue this is and it’s the gift that keeps giving! We had a wonderful afternoon as a couple with my working cocker in tow. The weather was gorgeous and we were able to sit outside, and enjoy the unique ambience of the RWY.

The wine’s change every month and this months did not disappoint, we tried new and delicious wines, expertly helped by the wonderful team, who make you feel so welcome from the minute you arrive.

We had the sharing platter, which is a delicious mix of cheese, charcuterie, an amazing pork terrine, fig jam, olives, fig jam and too many delicious things to mention, all served with a generous serving of French bread.

We arrived at 1330 and had such a fabulous time grazing and drinking, we didn’t leave until 1630! We cannot wait for our next visit!

Ruined by moody immature staff. Nice looking shop and wine bar, good selection of wines. Staff were aloof and dismissive and ruined 2 visits, we went back hoping it was an off night. How wrong were we, the staff were just as arrogant and spent most of their time talking to each other or eating at the back of the store.

Having found this place online I promised myself lunch and a glass (or two!) of wine while visiting Plymouth. I was incredibly lucky with the weather and booked an outside table: it was wonderful. When I arrived I explained to the delightful French gentleman that I had no idea of the process and he took me through it. I went off piste (for me) and chose a chilled red wine that was perfect. Unusually for me when there are wines on a selection system, I selected the same wine for my second glass. It really was good. Lunch was a board of mixed items such as saucisson, cheese, pickles, dip, fruit and bread. Sitting outside in beautiful sunshine, in a beautiful place, eating delicious food and drinking delicious wine - I was in heaven. This is now officially my favourite place to eat and drink in Plymouth. When I return with friends we will spend an evening here - and I cannot wait!

Perfectly located in Royal William Yard, this little gem is a must for that relaxing glass of wine accompanied by a meat and cheese platter. The ambience, quality of wine and food is simply exceptional. The staff, and in particular Elisa, are extremely well versed in their knowledge of all things wine and are the very epitome of good service.

I can’t recommend Le Vignoble enough. Well worth the 5 stars awarded. Thank you Elisa for an exceptional experience.

Odd experience. Somewhat unique system where you trade your credit card for a card to use in their self-serve wine pouring machines.

Two things were odd about this.

First, the people working while we visited weren’t the least bit welcoming or helpful to explain how it worked. I'm sure they think it's clear, but for first-timers, you don't have a clue what to do (put a credit card in the slot? how are the wines organized? can we only get glasses from the ones in the machines and not from the dozens of others displayed?)

Second, once we selected a wine, the machine told us the bottle was near-empty so it couldn’t pour us a glass, just a half-glass. This happened to me thre times in a row. Very frustrating, we took the time to read the tasting notes to see which wine we wanted, and then found out it wasn't really available (I wasn't clear why if there was less than a glass left why it was still one of the ~20 wines that was available - why not just swap it out for something that was a full bottle?).

While their new-fangled system may be neat, I really just wanted a glass of wine; someone simply pouring the glass would have been a lot quicker and easier.

Hi BlueScotch We're sorry to read that you didn't feel very well welcomed and that you thought our wine machines were an odd experience. I am very surprised by your comments as we are usually praised for our friendliness and concept, I am sorry that we obviously didn't get it quite right when you visited. To address a few of the points you raised: - We do have a lot of returning customers so don't automatically explain the concept to everyone as 90% of our guests have been before so know what they are doing. We didn't recognise that you hadn't been before and we're really sorry about this. - Yes you are correct that you can only get glasses of wine from the open bottles in the machines, all the other bottles of wine displayed are available to be purchased by the bottle to drink in or take away. - As there are 3 size options available to pour from the machines (25ml, 125ml & 175ml) fairly often we do find that there is amount of wine left in the bottle which is not enough for the size pour that the next customer wants. No we do not discard this amount in the bottle as that would be very wasteful and also costly (meaning we would need to put our prices up to cover the cost of this wastage) but it is no more expensive for you to keep serving by the 25ml button until the wine is gone. When we say no more expensive, we mean that the 175ml option is exactly the same price as 7 x 25ml options, so the price per ml is the same. As soon as the machine says 'bottle empty' we will change the bottle, and 95% of the time the new bottle will be the exact same wine so you can then continue to top your glass up to the desired glass size. - We do offer house wine by the glass which we pour and serve to you. We offer our house wine as we know that sometimes customers like you just want 'a glass of wine' rather than the unique experience that the machines offer. Again, please accept my apologies that we didn't take the time to explain the options you had when you arrived and also the details of the system. We hope you will return anyhow. Best wishes.

Surprise Birthday party huge success due to the staff. Good choice of wines and tapas. You can taste and sample huge range of wines. The carry out service is a bit weird hence the 4 stars. Recommended.
