Upon moving to Plymouth smeatons tower became a regular site. A site I didn't realise you could actually go in and have a look around. smeatons tower gives you great views of the Plymouth sound and the history on display as you walk around is great too.

on a sunny day you will have a wonderful view over Plymouth and Plymouth Sound! A few stairs to climb, with fondly arranged Information - about the history and the tower in genera -l on each floor. Costs a Little bit, free for children, cheaper for students.

Well worth the climb up for the amazing views alone but the history inside and chance to see what living inside a lighthouse was like is also interesting. Most of the climb is up ladders, not stairs. Stunning view of the city and ocean from the top.

93 steps!! the top flights are more like ladders with rails to hold on to. there is information and views on different levels. definitely worth the climb.

My fiance and I decided to go up the historic lighthouse. Very friendly member of staff at the bottom collecting admission money, I think it only cost us £4 each to go up. Climbed up the spiral staircase then subsequently another 4 (possibly, I lost count) stepladder type stairs up to the top. There is a balcony around the lighthouse... More

It is indeed the icon for the British Ocean City! No picture of plymouth is complete without it!. Good place to grab a picnic and watch the gorgeous view!

Wow what a view! And interesting to see how someone would have lived there. Our mr independent 2.5yr old climbed up and down (with a very nervous mummy underneath him on the ladders ready to catch lol) nice to have a look recommend if visiting Plymouth

Interesting Historical Light tower on top of the Hoe. Great views over Plymouth Sound if you are fit enough to climb to the top.

Stunning view, followed but some interesting facts about the history of the tower. Well worth the price! Make sure your camera is charged when you go!

Whether you're a uni student or a visitor this is a must do tourist attraction. For not even £4 each you can go up to the top and get some amazing views of both the sea and the city.
