Absolutely diabolical!!! Food was horrendous and will never order from here again!!! The carbonara was just mush and laced with so much pepper to hide the taste, my partner had the Yorkshire pud with mash and sausage... the gravy came with the stock cube still floating in it, the Yorkshire pud was tough and clearly microwaved and the mash wasn’t even mashed. When I rang to complain the staff told me to just ring deliveroo and they will validate a refund, sounded like he was getting too used to hearing complaints.

Definitely read and take note of the other countless reviews describing the horrible food before even contemplating ordering from here. Went straight in the bin after the first bites...

Cold beer/frozen food

Came across this place walking around Plymouth. Thought I'd try a pint and something to eat.
Lady who served me chatty enough and pleasant. Nice cold pint of bud.ordered fish chips mushy peas.
Sadly the fish was from frozen.deep fried and soaked in stale oil.frozen chips were ok but the meal wasn't the best.when your hungry eat it.the chalk board sign reading water bill is £400 per month and for customers only was an eye opener.decor dated and scruffy.needs a redesign but no real passing trade.upside me pint was ok.wouldnt go back to order food sorry.needs to be fresh not frozen.

Woeful venue and a bit sad.

An odd spot on run down depressing fringe of retail area where lots of businesses have closed or are stumbling. Only life and attractions along here are the two vegetarian restaurants several doors to the east. Worth noting that there are other better pubs close by, one down the hill just around the corner and another a little further at the bottom of Cornwall Street.

The problem with Henry J’s is that it doesn’t seem to try to provide any hospitable or welcoming service or environment. It looks and feels run down and dated. Unloved and uncared for. It doesn’t seem to attract any particular type of pub goer. Never seen more than three or four punters, The beer and booze selection is indifferent. Nothing sparkles. I couldn’t say whether the place is unclean but it has a grubby feel. Maybe I’m missing something but at a time when all pubs are under pressure why would this place survive?

Arrogant service (or lack of!)

I went and met a friend in Henry J’s, the bar tender refused to serve him as he was already under the influence but then proceeded to deny us both our human right to water. Arrogant law breaker, if you ever want to ruin your day with an argument - go to Henry J’s!

Disgusting
Jan 2018 • Couples
Ordered through the just eat app for me and my partner and it's safe to say we will not be doing that again! Nachos we're okay but the all day breakfast was tiny and bland, the 'carbonara' was mushy and absolutely disgusting, only had 1 bite of it and I've left the rest. Absolutely horrible and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

"Horrid Henry's"

We had enjoyed a perfect day in Plymouth and after having a delicious fish and chip supper at 'Charlie Franks' we decided to go for a drink before returning to our hotel. We were directed to 'Henry J's bar' ,a short walk away.
We should have known what to expect ----Friday night and the bar was almost empty!
Our first impressions were not good ,the large seating area was run down and had no atmosphere whatsoever. As we didn't know of any other bars in the proximity we stayed there !
Apart from a 'girlie group' (dressed-up for the speakeasy party at 'Charlie Franks') and three other people the bar was like the 'Mary Celeste'!
We found seats at the back and waited to be served .There was only one bar person who was dealing with the girls ,which took a considerable length of time! He did not acknowledge us and wasn't at all friendly, not what we'd expect from someone in the hospitality industry and he wasn't exactly run off his feet (not surprising really)!
After the other drinkers left it felt even more like a morgue!
The 'final straw' was the sudden overpowering smell of disinfectant from somewhere .It was so bad we decided to go back to the hotel (much earlier than anticipated).Unfortunately we didn't discover the inconsistent price of the drinks until the next day or we would have definitely questioned it !
Needless to say ,we have resolved to find out where the better bars are for our next visit! We certainly won't ever be returning to 'Henry Js' !

Definitely not the best...

Ordered from here on Just Eat and went and collected it. First impressions weren't all that great and I probably wouldn't have eaten here if I'd have walked in to order.

My lasagne wasn't put in the bag unbeknown to me until I went back for cutlery and I almost wish I hadn't. It was definitely reheated and tasteless. My boyfriend ordered the Christmas dinner which was basically a big Yorkshire with veg and the Christmas pudding was actually B&B pudding.

I won't be going back again
