    It holds your atten….SHUN!
“The only 5 star attraction in Torquay” is what is emblazoned across the leaflets for the museum, and it’s easy to see why. It may not be as slick and as polished as places like English Heritage and the like, but it has a wealth of artefacts, information and attention grabbers over its two floors that would appeal to even the non-military minded. It is absolutely worth a visit and was pretty much the ONLY thing we found to do in Torquay!

    Great museum to visit!
Great attraction to visit. Had a very impressive collection on show. We spent a long time there looking at everything and it feels like there were still things we missed. Had a nice layout to follow. Only had one slight negative thing which is that the signs sometimes had corrections haphazardly put on in Sharpie or paper sellotaped over writing- this spoilt the put-together effect the rest of the museum had a little bit.

Went in cos it was raining.
It was a rainy day, I was in Paignton for the weekend with my 9yr old son and couldn’t go to the beach as planned. Had the whole day, went back to the hotel and saw a flyer for this. Took a bus to Torquay and paid the entrance fee believing it would be mediocre at best given it was a small venue. In short, it was probably the most worthwhile thing I did that weekend. My son was given a quiz to do from Amy and I was led around the museum by him. The quiz makes you look at the exhibits and read to some detail I order to answer the questions. I thought it was pitched just right where it was not too easy to find the answers nor was it impossible. We spent 95 minutes in a place which was relatively small spread over two levels. We found the exhibits interesting and the place was very densely packed with artefacts and memorabilia. There was a lot of airfix type scale models to the extent that it may be too excessive but that’s not really a criticism. Would I go again. Yeah.

An excellent museum absolutely full of interesting and rare items. I especially found the letters from soldiers interesting to look at. I also enjoyed doing the quiz as we walked around.
