    Wine tasting and Sunday roast
We started with the wine tasting paired with cheese. Heather could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable, great experience and very much looking forward to returning in the summer. Next, had the Sunday roast, one of the best we have ever had. Tom was amazing. Great service, friendly and very attentive. 10 out of 10!

    Sunday Roast at it’s best!
Having been away from Devon for a while due to work commitments and having heard the Circa team had moved from Exeter to Sandridge Barton we were desperate to visit them in their new venue. Wow. What an amazing location and the best Sunday roast we’ve eaten in a restaurant for a long, long time. A must visit and important to book at table in advance. We can’t wait to go back when we next head south to Devon.

    Tour and tasting
Took a tour tasting with cheese and were joined by 3 other separate couples. Matt the guide kept it very relaxed but informative and we all interacted making it a fun ,pleasurable and educational experience. Cheeses were great and very locally produced. Afterwards we decided to try some of the small food plates available in the tasting room and some more wine and they went down rather well too! All in all a lovely day and highly recommend a visit

Winery great but give the restaurant a miss.
The wine tasting and tour were brilliant, but unfortunately the restaurant let it down. Visit the winery, it's exceptional, but don't waste your money on the overpriced Circa restaurant. Portions are miniscule - ok - but hardly amazing. Instead, buy some Sharpham wines - much better value. Bear in mind that the restaurant is renowned locally for poor service particularly for group bookings.

    Tour and tasting
Went for a tour and tasting and had a wonderful time. The tour guide was very informative and happy to answer any questions. Lovely wine and beautiful setting. The tour and tasting was only £22 per person which I think is a great price you sample 3 wines and 2 lovely of local cheese at the end. Will definitely buy their wines again 🍾

    Fantastic
We visited yesterday (Monday) morning, for a tour to celebrate a friend’s (very important) birthday. From start to finish our experience was impeccable! Our hostess was incredibly well informed and could answer all of our questions, whilst simultaneously explaining everything in a very clear manner. Just as importantly (in my opinion), she was fun, upbeat and had the whole group in a constant stream of laughter - whilst simultaneously maintaining a perfect level of professionalism. You get the impression that she really cares about her job and the customers experience. The experience was further heightened by the wonderful wines we got to taste followed by the delicious cheese. Not to mention the glorious sunshine that we’re not always privileged enough to experience. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone, especially if you get to experience the same hostess which we did. Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name, but she was young (mid 20s), had long brown hair and radiated positive energy. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

    A good day out!
I booked the wine safari for my son’s 29th birthday. Matt our tour guide was engaging and informative. We were taken in the landrover around the estate to see and learn about the vines whilst having a few tastings of various wines. Then it was back to find out what happens in the winery. After this we were treated to some more wine and charcuterie before being released to exit through the gift shop! The shop is of course well stocked…..

    Fantastic day!
My husband and I were excited to return having done a previous wine tasting at the previous Sharpham site. We did the self guided tour this time with our friends and loved the experience. The fact you can chose whichever 4 wines yourself and the wicker basket it comes out in is a lovely touch. We also shared a cheeseboard, the sourdough and fried chicken. Again, 10/10. We got lucky with the weather too which definitely added to a beautiful day. Highly recommend and will be back for sure.

    Great Sunday lunch
Great Sunday experience. Short walk around the estate, bit of wine tasting and the best Sunday toast at Circa restaurant. Vegetarian option was of a really good standard as well as a top Roast beef. Very interesting side dishes. Plenty of enticing dessert options.

    Disappointed
I’ve been waiting to try the cheese and wine tasting. Very dissatisfied paid extra for cheese tasting 1 plate between 4 . Well if that’s a large plate I’m Neil Armstrong. 4 glasses of wine were fine but having 4 guys fighting over the smallest bits of cheese isn’t good . Really need to add more biscuits and more cheese before I go back . Add more cheese even if you put the price up a bit 😡

A group of us recently did the wine and cheese tasting tour. We arrived early and have food and wine in the cafe which was delicious and all food that came out looked stunning. Other customers were also enjoying a variety of food and wine. We had a mixture of wine sharing 3 types which were all reasonably priced.
The tour itself was ok and a good length surrounded by beautiful scenery. The tour guide was a pleasant enough guy who knew his stuff. You do get to try 5 small glasses of wine. First a sparkling, then a dry white wine, an orange wine which wasn't for me, a rosè which was lovely and refreshing and finally a red wine with 2 of the cheeses made on site. You can buy from the shop if you want too and I like the fact you aren't forced into buying anything.
If you enjoy white and drier wines then I would recommend this 100%.

This was our third visit and it didn’t disappoint. Donna had extensive knowledge of the wines and cheese we tasted. Very covid secure safe with everyone taking part in the tasting all at safe distance apart. Excellent value for money.

Food at The Cellar Door amazing.

Will definitely be visiting the new Vineyard next year.

Would recommend anyone travelling by train to Totnes to book a taxi in advance as taxis are not readily available.

We booked a mini self-guided tasting which was great. We tasted 4 different wines each and shared 3 of their cheeses - seemed a very reasonable price for what we got to me and the wines had good variety and interest (I know less about cheese but they tasted good!).

The weather was then so nice that we spontaneously ordered a takeaway meze picnic from their cafe to eat in the field area (we'd have sat in but all the tables were apparently booked even though they stayed empty the whole time - they're being very cautious with booking lengths!!). Also very nice, if a bit pricey. Other people were drinking bottles of wine they had bought from the shop, with disposable glasses the place had provided so lovely atmosphere. Kids there too as well as adult groups.

Finally we went on a nice walk along the river before returning to buy our favourite wines to take home! Would definitely recommend it as an afternoon out.

We tried finding the vineyard earlier in the week, but turned back as the road in appeared (in true Devon style) to shrink to be so narrow we assumed it was a house driveway!
We returned later in the week and followed the driveway (could really do with more signage!) and eventually arrived at the vineyard. So persevere!

The wines are delicious, the location lovely and the food (We didn’t eat as we had eaten earlier!) looked wonderful.

We did a cheese ( £3) and wine tasting (£7) and then bought yet more wine!

As with all English wine, it is not cheap (don’t think Asda £5 bottles) but it is excellent and can easily hold its own against French rose or New Zealand’s whites. I would recommend the tasting and then shop.

Had an absolutely fantastic morning here at Sharpham Wine and Cheese. Staff were so friendly and welcoming and Alex has incredible knowledge of not only the wines and cheese they produce but also was able to answer so many questions people had. Had a beautiful tour of the vineyard with superb views and a good balance of talking and sampling! We tried 4 wines and 2 cheeses on our tour and the onsite shop was reasonably priced so even brought a few treats home. Sadly the on-site restaurant was closed for the season but we wouldn’t hesitate to return in the summer months.

Very out of the way along narrow lanes but an enjoyable visit on a sunny afternoon. We were put in a group of 8 and the first tasting took place in the wine facilities barn. The second looking at a newly planted vineyard and the third back in the courtyard. The making of the wines was explained in some detail. When I tell you that the 8 samples used less than half a bottle each time you can imagine how tiny they were! The minute pieces of cheese (2) with the tiniest crackers ever finished our 'tour'.
We had a look at the restaurant menu thinking we might return another day for lunch but it was so pretentious and expensive we won't bother. The staff were very friendly and everything looked clean and modern.
However, if you have mobility problems, you should be aware there's a lot of time standing still; several flights of steps; steep slopes and lots of loose gravel/stones.
Something different but not really value for money.

We went to have a Vineyard tour and tasting for our anniversary and were really impressed with how Sharpham had made their shop and tasting areas COVID safe.
Due to social distancing issues you get to choose a selection of wines and some cheeses that are made on site and locally and have your own table socially distanced from others.
They give you all the info and as a couple you get to take your time and do the tasting together which is really lovely and intimate.

You then have the opportunity to buy any products in the shop and can walk round the vineyard and take in the breath taking views!
We love coming to Sharpham and will definitely be back!

2nd visit to this great find. In the current climate it is important to book in advance.

After a really nice meal in 2019 decided to return this year on a holiday in the area. Arrived for 12.30 to do a self tasting and cheese plate. Cost £10 for a choice of 4 wines and 3 cheeses all produced at the estate. Staff all friendly and seemed to be set up well for Covid.

After tasting we went for a walk around the grounds which was nice but did cost extra which was a surprise£2.50 per head. Nothing I don’t think would stop you just going for a walk and sure many were.

After walk sat for lunch. It is amazing the quality of the food from small mobile kitchen. I had pea pancakes to start and tart with salad for main. Really well presented and meals of others at table equally good..

Worth the trip.

Lovely afternoon. Superb guide (I'm sorry, I don't remember her name) who made the whole event very interesting and entertaining. We tried four wines and cheeses, and walked around the vineyard. The views are stunning. We bought two bottles of surprisingly good pinot noir. Who said English wines aren't good??
We also had a picnic lunch provided by the on-site restaurant (I think it's a different business). If you want their sit-down meal, you need to book first, but we just turned up, bought a picnic and sat overlooking the river. The food cost £10 but was superb. Definitely recommend that as well.

Arrived and had a lovely lunch for 4 people, very slow service and small portions but the food was lovely.
After the tour and wine tasting we took a look in the shop. Very small choice of cheese and was told no tasters before we buy. Suggested this would be a good idea so people travelling could decide which one they like but was told this didn’t matter to them as they sell enough anyway. Still, we were happy to spend money in purchasing cheese and wine. We then sat down for another bottle of the wine at 4.45 to be told they close at 5 so we need to be finished by then and no later. After rude service throughout the day from the restaurant and shop staff we decided to liaise with a manager! This did not help…5 minutes after complaining about the staff we then walked into the shop to think about buying another type of cheese as we were happy to give it a go, to hear the staff talking and making rude comments about us very loudly to other staff members…. Safe to say I requested a refund for my previous purchase. I do not recommend this place if you’re looking for a friendly place to visit.
The staff appear untrained with regards to customer care and attention. Un - experienced staff, no overall experienced supervisor! I felt so uncomfortable throughout the day after spending so much money this is not somewhere I would like to go again.
Very disappointed!!
