About
Established in 2013 Devon Distillery started by being the only Grappa Producers in the UK. Since then Devon Distillery has grown in its produce and offerings and in 2018 launched the Devon Gin School, where you can use your inGinuinty to create your own bespoke gin! In 2021 the Devon Rum School was launched where you can make your own unique spiced rum!

Wasn’t sure what to expect but it was a very welcoming atmosphere, beautiful location and very authentic, amazing knowledgeable host who taught us so much in a short space of time and then a great fun way to learn and make our own gin. Chris was very knowledgeable, we learnt a lot about the rum making process and are really pleased with the rum we made. Our master distiller and guide Chris was welcoming, friendly and informative. We booked this as a family birthday and graduation celebration, and everyone in our party from 21 to 50 throughly enjoyed themselves! Apart from creating our very own bottles of rum to take home (dream come true!) we all enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the class, and the way we weren’t bogged down with too much theory. Lots of fun to be had aboard this bus, we can’t wait to return with more friends and family!Thanks for such a lovely review, we're glad you had a great time with us on the Rum School bus! Greeted by our host Chris with a warm welcome and a tasty Gin, we were then treated to an informative and interesting history of Gin and then the art of making it by mixing the botanicals. Chris inspired a relaxed and fun environment. He was knowledgeable and helpful throughout, imparting lots of knowledge but it an interesting way. We have had the pleasure of visiting the Devon Gin School twice and both time’s the experience has been excellent.
Delicious gin and tonics whilst we have our experience, interesting, informative and lots of fun.
We loved getting to create our own special blend of botanicals and creating our own labels.
I would highly recommend upgrading from 35cl to 70cl for an additional £15.
Mo was a fantastic host. For anyone nervous about going back after COVID19 please don’t be. The seating is all socially distanced, everything is thoroughly cleaned between sessions and the staff wear PPE throughout.

Really good fun, nice to do the activity as a small group of 3 pairs. Kate, who was guiding us for the session, was really friendly and helpful. Only really minor downside was that it was a little cramped, but it didn’t affect the overall experience - would highly recommend 🙂

We were in a small group led by 'little Kate' who was so enthusiastic and passionate about her job and ensuring that we had a great experience.
We learnt all about what makes gin, different botanicals, which we were all able to try.
For the drivers there were non alcoholic drinks available.
We made our own gin (between two), personalised label making added to the experience and we walked away after 3 hours with our own gin concoctions! We wait to see what it tastes like!

We had a wonderful time making our own rum today, Jack was very informative and clearly knew his stuff.
We made a full bottle of rum with our own spices/fragrance and a label which got printed onto our bottle.
We loved it so much that we brought a gift voucher as a gift for some friends.
Super excited to try our rum.

What a great way to spend an hour or two. Christmas gift from one of our daughters. Our distillers, Little Kate and Jack were very easy going and made the whole experience fun and informative - thank you both. The Gin you create is unique to you but don't be afraid to experiment a little with ingredients you may never have heard of. Do opt for the optional second bottle upgrade. I love to create cocktails so this was right up my street, but believe me when I say you do not have to know anything about Gin making - just enjoy the experience. Ask for a sip of their Devoncello. Absolutely delicious. You will buy some!! Having developed a taste for more, we are keen to try out the newly opened Rum School Experience with friends.

Had a fabulous time making our own gin. Both my husband and I took part in distilling a bottle each. Only 4 of us on the day, which was lovely. So much to take in but Jessie was really helpful and answered everyone's questions. What we didn't realise is that you get to drink gin as you make it - now that was a real bonus, however recommend you have something to eat first! Great fun and would recommend anyone to try it.

This was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The 2 ladies, in particular "little" Kate looked after us so well and shared their knowledge of the entire process with us. We took the upgrade option on the day and for an additional £50 we made a 70cl bottle each as due to it not being fully booked there were stills available. The cocktail at the start was super tasty and we were given samples of various other rums as well as raw sugarcane so that we could decide what we wanted our final product to look and taste like. We chose from a variety of botanical and again Kate helped us with all the right measurements, gave us tips depending on what flavours we liked and we even got to design our own label whilst the still works its magic, which was lots of fun. We already sampled the final product and it really does taste like a premium spirit and you get hints of all the botanical you have added in the process! We'll definitely be back for the gin school :-)

We had a great time at the gin school. Little Kate was really informative and helped talk us through different options and combinations of scents and flavours. We also loved trying the Devon Distillery gins during our gin making class. If you're looking for a fun experience and something a little bit different we would definitely recommend the gin making.

We attended today for the rum distilling session and it was excellent. The two staff members were very helpful and the tutor was knowledgable about the subject and enthusiastic. In this Covid era we felt safe and the numbers were limited to ensure distancing was met. We were given this experience as an Xmas gift and would recommend this. It lasted nearly 2 hours which flew by - great fun.

We booked as group of six for the Gin lesson, and honestly we couldn’t have had a better time. Gabby was brilliantly funny and delightful from the off. She guided us through the process with flair, skill and humour.
We had no idea what to expect from the experience but were totally blown away from how informative, fun and enjoyable it would be.
The idea of creating your own gin, designing your own bottle label and being able to reorder is just genius.
We invented “Nolly Gin” in memory of Noel Gordon from Crossroads.
We laughed, we learnt, we had a thoroughly lovey time.
Five stars.
