We arrived at Totnes Castle this Sunday morning. As we approached this majestic castle we could see people walking up the steps inside. The gate was shut- but not locked so we let ourselves in. Turns out it didn't open until 10:00 and it was...More

Visited here on a cold, drizzly October day. Because it's a shell of a castle, and the upkeep wasn't met, the castle fell into disrepair. But it's amazing to see that this is one of the better preserved examples of a motte and bailey castle,...More

It was fun for 10 minutes. Not much to see or do but if you are a national heritage member it is worth looking at but not a activity that last long. So if you are not a national heritage member it is costly

The castle is a basic motte & bailey with the keep on top of the mound offering god views of Totnes & the river Dart in the distant. Good exercise to walk up to the castle, then the keep & up to the ramparts.

Decent views across town, but not that much to see otherwise. There is one information post at the bottom of the castle that is interesting, but none at the top (you have to pay an extra £3 for an information booklet). They have picnic benches,...More

The Castle is situated on an elated site so provides a great panoramic view of Totnes. There’s not much Castle left but the grounds are well kept and kids love the climb and they get a good run around the grounds.
