Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bournemouth has now become an urban wasteland full of empty shops,
uncollected waste and looking like something out of the third world.
Scores of For Sale boards advertising empty shops and offices which
most likely will never be relet. The few shops left must surely close soon as
the place is so hostile to visitors.
BCP Council appear to have abandoned the town as their revenue from
Business Rates has collapsed.

A shocking decline from the smart attractive city of the 20th Century.

The beaches around Bournemouth are wonderful but avoid going near the pier area as it gets very busy. People seem to congregate in this area and leave lots of litter. The upper gardens are lovely too. I lived in and around Bournemouth for over 40 years leaving 2.5 years ago. We returned this week to visit friends and found the experience upsetting. The town is so dirty, shops left empty and the planning seems to have gone to the wall. Bournemouth was such a beautiful, classy, victorian town but now it's rough, tacky and shabby. Very upsetting to see a place do down so very quickly.

Really shocking to see just how much Bournemouth square has declined in the past six years. Literally all of the major shops have shut as well as many of the others; the smaller ones that remain seem half hearted and very poorly stocked. You couldn’t come here for a shopping trip any longer - there’s nothing to buy!
The town centre is dominated by beggars and homeless people, some are aggressive and intimidating to visitors and nothing seems to be done to help them. The dirty and dilapidated state of much of the town centre area is also shocking compared to how Bournemouth used to be. Such a sad decline.

Bournemouth Square has changed drastically. I lived and worked there between '89 and '92 and in those two years the place was buzzing with energy always something good happening. I visited again in 2022 and i was shocked to witness such a drastic change. Where has all the magic gone?? It used to be so beautiful, clean and colourful. Now it was all dull and dirty. I was heartbroken. Even now, as I write this review, my heart bleeds.

Absolutely saddened by how the standards of Bournemouth have declined. I live there back in 2009 and it was absolutely beautiful. Now it is strewn with rubbish and lots of unsavory characters have set themselves up there. I was full of nostalgia before I arrived and quickly felt a deep sense of sadness. Poor poor Bournemouth natives!!

The Square in Bornemouth is definitely an interesting place to people watch, the square is centrally located and separates the 2 gardens.

The day we were there there were multiple different religious groups trying to speak with passerby's.

The River Bourne flows under the square.

The Gardens going off this area are worth walking both ways , one to the Sea and one to the Coy Pond about 1.5 miles from the center

Christmas market in Bournemouth yesterday evening 🥰 A lovely wander around and looking at all the bright, colourful and delicious food too 🤩 Also popped in to Pandora store 💎 💛

Lots more stalls this year compared to last and lots of nice gift options too! Highly recommended to visit 💛

Bournemouth square is located in the town center and is a great place for gathering together with friends and families. When you are in Bournemouth square you will have access to all to all of the roads, shops, and gardens all around the Bournemouth town center. From June to September it is really crowded because of lots of tourists, moreover, there are bars and amusements facilities in the square. From the end of September, bars and amusements facilities will be closed and it will change to a place for skating by young people which makes it a good place for teenagers. If you are going to go to Bournemouth whenever during the year I recommend you go there at least once.

Such a shame to see the decline of the town centre. All the shops I liked have gone, I went there for a day’s shopping and only bought a hair brush. Where have all the clothes shops gone? Lots of beggars as well, I hope the council are helping them.
