This is a lovely way to get to the top of the West Cliff at Bournemouth especially at the end of the day. It is certainly a lot easier than the Zig-Zag path. The cost is £1.50, which is reasonable. It's an interesting experience.

Very useful Funicular on Bournemouth beach. We stayed at the Marriott Highcliff hotel which was just at the top! Pleasant staff to show you in and out of the lifts.

We paid £1.50 each to go up in the lift for old times sake - I went on it 25 years ago as a child. For me it was a minute of fun but I can see the benefits for people who have difficulty with...More

I used it regularly , it allowed me good access to the beach, not expensive. As a result of a landslip it has been removed, to be replaced in the near future. As a result it's now a mile plus drive to access the beach.

Now a year or two since it stopped working. The alterative is a very LONG and VERY STEEP WALK up a zig zag narrow path to gain access to the road above. Be aware it is steep.

Really nice view of the beach nice to see this old lift still in use. For the £1.50 a go a must to do saves the walk up the hill.

The view both ways is fantastic. The drop is very steep. The journey time is short and the seating is basic.

This shut down in 2016 and there is no indication of opening any time soon as they are assessing cliff damage and safety so you can look only. Still it's worth having a look.
