- keep calm355 contributionsDog friendlyWe visited during February half term, nothing was open apart from the small cafe and shop as it wasn't the right time of the year. I guess there would be far more activity during the warmer months. It was nice to stroll down and see the plaques etc however that's all there was. A bit steep at £1.80 each although it is going towards the restoration which it is in need of.Visited February 2023Written 1 March 2023

Can see Old Harry, the Balard Down, Isle of White, Pervil Point . The pier is clean and tidy and well kept - only £2/ person to keep it in good order. Nice cafe and a modest museum and shop. Has toilets and these are free, something not easy to find in Swanage. Well worth the visit!Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 April 2023
- Millie024Llantwit Major, United Kingdom532 contributionsA delightful attraction, traditional and quirky. On a very windy morning, we struggled up to the far end of the pier. I very much enjoyed reading the many memorial plaques let into the wooden floor of the pier, and on the benches. The views back to the town are wonderful. There are some interesting information boards, including one about wrecks to which divers can descend. I shall imagine myself walking up the pier often.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 September 2023

Boats coming and going with divers and the beautiful tall ship which I believe was SV Tenacious. Ended up in the cafe with coffee and cake.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 2 October 2023

Great idea to charge a small amount to enjoy the peer which is of historical importance and creates such an incredible view of Swanage & it’s coastline

It’s a pier! I went specifically to find and photo a brass plaque set into the wooden beams. Very nice lady at the entrance was able to look it up and give great directions on where to find it.

Being a city girl I always realise how much of England’s natural beauty I haven’t seen and Swanage is one of them. This whole area is beautiful with friendly locals

Few days in Swanage so a wander along the pier is surely a must. It’s not a pleasure pier, it’s just a collection of planks heading out to sea. Lots of work being undertaken on it so not fully accessible. Lots of uneven and wobbly planks. Didn’t feel overly safe. At £1.80 per adult it was overpriced for what it is.
But it did get you out into the bay a bit to give you an improved view inland.
And the staff at the ticket office were friendly and chatty and a good source of local info.
Some piers you’d go on again and again. This is not one of those.

Sorry I am not in Swanage now but was told that the pier was aiming to open late summer. I suggest you ring pier master to confirm or Swanage Tourist Information
Are the plaques safe during the renovations and when will the pier be open again .
