North pained are very eclectic and are home to a variety of shops. The difference in the shops are wonderful, varying from kitschy to second hand, from tiny coffee shops serving fantastic home made cakes to good old fashioned pubs. The true variety of life in this wonderfully diverse town can been seen here. So wether shopping is your thing... More

We spent a few hours exploring the 'Laines'. We stayed at the Jury's Inn Brighton Waterfront Hotel which was very handy for the Laines/Lanes. We had breakfast in a little 'bakery style' Café 0n Market street, which was really nice (sorry can't remember it's name). The South Lanes were mainly jewellery shops, fine if that is what you're after. We... More

Thus is how I remember Brighton from my youth. Full of quirky shops and some good looking eateries. We had lunch at Idyea, it was fantastic.

I enjoyed my experience of the North Laine. There are lots of independent shops with intriguing products, and plenty of places to eat and drink. I didn't buy anything as nothing caught my eye, and it does get extremely busy, but I'm glad I went.

Great for walking around and gazing but loads of buskers trying to out din each other and lots of people sitting on the street and doorways some with dogs and bedding saying hello or sometimes other words as you walk past.Gets really busy with lots of tourists and the hard line locals being "trendy" The council should discourage this. Beware... More

Liked this part of Brighton very ethnic feel and reminded us a bit of Camden Town with quirky shops. Only went in the day so can't comment on vibe at night. But should imagine very good aslots of nice restaurants and bars.

Excellent independent shops, a lot of alternative stuff to find. Food and drink outlets are abundant too.

Plenty of unique, independent retailers selling a wide variety of uncommon and often hand made one-of-a-kind goods. Something to interest most, leaning slightly more towards the younger half. (10-50 years approx) An absolute must visit.

Great places to eat, vegan Shoes and plenty of places to pierced :) I hate the word but there is a fun 'vibe' here. It feels a little try hard and there are a lot of teenagers (and adults) trying a little too hard but I guess it's all part of it. There are some places to buy reasonably priced... More

Edgy, odd and interesting - not to be confused with The Lanes - North Laine consists of a number of partially pedestrianised streets east of Queens Road, west of Marlborough and Gloucester Place and mainly north of Church Street. The Komedia theatre, cinema and cafe could probably be said to be at its centre but it is periodically changes as... More
