- Frank S1 contributionWicked burger worst cheesy chips EVER !The racing is excellent theatre .however the facilities are basic at best .offices at the back of the grandstand look terribly untidy don’t do the track any favours. However my biggest bugbear is the wicked burger outlet! Worst cheesy chips EVER cold chips with grated cheese on top 🤮and £5 for the privilege 🫤Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 April 2024
- JayT&HayThetford, United Kingdom252 contributionsRun horsies run!We had a fab time at the course. We got our tickets with a special offer of a drink and pie. The pies were really good quality and helped with the expenses of the day. Drinks were expensive, but the venue was clean and we thoroughly enjoyed our day out.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 May 2024
- Enjoy7 contributionsGreat day outHad a thoroughly enjoyable day. Had the buffet in Silks, well presented and friendly helpful staff. The view across Brighton was superb, strongly recommend. I mislaid my mobile phone at the end of the day and the office staff were only too happy to check and get back to me. All in all an excellent customer experience.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 September 2024

As part of my 60th Birthday celebrations we booked a table in the Silks. The age range was from 60 years down to 9 months. We were made to feel very welcome from the start, the staff were excellent. The table was positioned so there was plenty of room for my Grandson's push chair. The food was great and was served as and when we requested. I think we took over 2 hours from the starter to the dessert. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We also had a very entertaining guest speaker and host Mattie Batchelor a current Jockey.
I felt that for £85 per adult we had suberb value.

I was with my older parents and younger children so wanted a permanent table and base which is why we went for the restaurant option. It was class, everyone in the Silks restaurant was wonderful. Great service, fantastic food and never waited to long to get a beer.
Great view of the whole race corse as well as most of Brighton. You can use the Tote in the restaurant or easily head down to a bookie down below.
Would 100% go again when next in Brighton.

The services available are great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A few little drawbacks - the beer wasn't cold and the function room was uncomfortably warm throughout the day and night. There was a heatwave but still it was a pity about the heat as most people could not stay in the function room as it was too hot - AC should have been turned on.

This was our first visit to this racecourse and although we enjoyed it we did leave with a bitter taste in our mouth. On many levels it is an excellent facility that has an awful lot going for it some strange things happened when we were there that took the edge off it.
a small issue was that the lift was out of order and there is a lot of climbing to get to the back of the stand for viewing so that became hard work after a few races.
One completely avoidable situation was that in the whole racecourse only one bar was open for the general public. I really don't understand this as surely you would sell more drinks and make more money if you had two or three outlets like most of the race courses.
The last point is that without being asked we were 50p extra per drink to have a plasticracecourse beaker. I have no idea why they were doing this and nobody explained it when asked nor gave you the option of not having one.
I know a lot of punters were unhappy about this and I've never experienced anything like it elsewhere. On top of this, we were charge for the wrong drinks on one occasion and couldn't be refunded the overcharge as the system didn't let them do it! Not great customer service in my opinion.
Other than that, the racecourse is quirky and exciting and the viewing excellent. There are plenty of bookmakers around and the views are absolutely stunning.
We travel a lot to the races but would think twice about going back to Brighton. if we do I really hope they have addressed the issues above as they are so simple to achieve.

The place is a dump. paid close to 200 quid for two to sit at a small inside table for an average lunch with zero view of the course itself except on (small) telly near-by. facility way past its prime. stick to Newmarket, Ascot, etc.

Lovely country racecourse which we visited on a day trip from London. Be aware train tickets very expensive if not booked well in advance. The track is lovely, facilities older but adequate not unlike our good selves. Special mention to our Uber driver who helped us when I left my backpack in a brighter cafe.

Brighton is one of the smaller racecourses, but benefits from a lovely location on the downs above Brighton with a sea view. The grandstands/ buildings/facilities look a bit dated, but on a sunny day it is nice to sit outside ( if you can nab a seat/table). For a keen racegoer, one benefit is that you are very close to the track, even in the grandstand, and there were some very close finishes.
Brighton is often criticised for hosting poor quality racing, but unless you are an aficionado, a race is a race, and it does not mean the races are necessarily less exciting.
Car parking is free.
One negative point is the large advertising hoardings by the finish line. I know racecourses have to make their money where they can, but they block the view of the sea and generally look awful.

What a great course, we were in the Silks Restaurant hospitality and it was superb. Great view of the amazing course on top of a hill where you can see the horses sweep round and down the hill towards the grandstand. Also looks out on the parade ring. Really friendly crowd and no trouble that I saw.
Food and service in Silks was top notch, they even had a band on. The only downside was getting away. It’s a fair walk back down to the seafront, no good if you are in high heels and there was a huge queue for the cabs. Go dressed for the weather because the course is on top of a hill and exposed if the wind and rain is in your face. A really great day out.

I always believe in betting to lose at a racecourse so always a good day when you have a couple of winners and break even. Nice course it is unusual in that it is not a round course more a horseshoe shape so races are limited in distance. Top jockeys William Buick and Hollie Doyle on course the day I was there. The course is easy to get to by bus from the Churchill shopping centre bus station. The only annoying thing at the track was the bar only accepted payment by card not cash. Having drawn sufficient cash to cover bar and food bills a minor annoyance. Would have been worse for anybody who had left their card at home or didn't have a bank account card. All the course bookmakers took cash and with the relaxation now on covid rules and all pubs taking cash not sure what the reason was.

Fabulous day out, all the staff that we met were very friendly and helpful, we had a meal in Silks and that was superb our waiter was lovely, (we did pre book the table as we guessed they would be busy).we had a perfect view of the paddock and the finish line was just below our balcony which was part of the Silks restaurant. The toilets were well kept lovely and clean. Thankyou Brighton Race Course fabulous day had by all with a couple of winnings as well.

Good afternoon my wife and I are hoping to attend the summer Monday racing meeting is there a bus service from the city centre to the course and how much does it cost?
Written 5 June 2018
Yes busses No 2 and 378 both go to the course gates. Not sure of the cost, as it will depend where you board and what ticket you buy.

hello. Thanks for your question. Unfortunately due to BHA restrictions, visiting horses in the stableyard before they race isn't allowed. The horses like to get ready - just like an athlete- about to run any race. However we do a fantastic behind the scenes tour before a raceday that does include visiting the stables area and finding out all about what goes on during a raceday.

What is parking like at the race course? It says limited on the website but what does that mean?
Written 7 September 2017
We found there to be no problem parking . Large field area in front of entrance that was free.
