Always love a stroll round here and love showing it off to friends. They really enjoyed the black tall net huts and they helped us to see them afresh too. Lots of boards to read which inform you about the area.

Called in today to see what was on offer at the Hastings Herring Fair. Great choice of local restaurants serving... yes, you guessed it - herrings! Cooked in every imaginable way. We grabbed us some lunch here and sat and listened to the live music,...More

Good food but expensive for a basic cafe although the food was good. Area been spoilt by the gallery and hotel being built and ruining the old town area

The Old Town and the Stade still have something of the atmosphere of Hastings as an old fishing town. There's the beach-launched fishing fleet, the tall black net shops and, towering above, the backdrop of the rugged sandstone cliffs. A fascinating place to wander around,...More

Beautiful historic place to stroll around. Love the fact that its still a working beach as well. Often buy fish down here, knowing it's been landed metres away.

It was very interesting walking around this beach and strand here, with the tall netting sheds, museums, all redolent of the old fishing traditions. With all the mechanised tractors to get the boats in and out of the water, it must have been indescribably hard...More

This is one of the few seaside resorts in the UK that is still a working fishing port and where you can see the industry working and close up. It is well worth a walk along The Stade.

This is a somewhat stark looking cafe close to the Jerwood Gallery in Old Hastings. Big plate glass windows and an outside terrace give views of the beach and the net-drying huts. Not cheap, but everything seems to be of excellent quality, especially the breakfasts.

Pleasant walking around old town and the Stade. Lots of old houses, lanes, alleys and twittens! Enjoyed seeing the filming locations for Foyle’s War. Great view from hill near castle. Interesting to stroll around the Stade and see the fishing boats and net huts.
