Our tandem pilot Ian became hooked on paragliding after going on a tandem flight in Turkey more than 10 years ago. He went straight on to get his own pilot licence, and gained experience flying in Spain, Turkey, Africa, India, and Nepal, as well as the UK. Five years ago, he realised that he wanted to share his passion (obsession!) with other people, so he decided to get his tandem licence.

Enjoyed a fantastic 25 minute tandem flight from the South Downs. The flight started with a briefing on safety and What to expect while flying. Ian really knows his stuff and his infectious enthusiasm for the sport really shone through. This is a guy who not only technically knows his sport but is a competent and safe pilot. He happily adapted the flight as at the beginning I was a bit nervous and as I got more confident he made my flight a little more fun. My wife is a reluctant flyer but even she said the confidence and professionalism Ian exuded made her consider if she would book in for a tandem in the future. Amazing experience. This isn't just boring parasailing, you fly free riding the thermals. I found it a bit scary waiting for my turn at the launch site but Ian gave clear calm instructions and talked me through what was going to happen. First time paragliding and got nervy as the flight got closer. The instructor was fab though and I felt comfortable as we got ready for take-off. The actual flight was excellent. Went along the coast, taking in the views. The glide felt really smooth and exciting.

Experienced pilot Ian took me for a fantastic flight over the cliffs at Newhaven. Ian gave really clear instructions when we were on the ground and in the air. I felt at ease at all times. I loved it.
