Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I fell upon this place which made it an even more lovely treat. It was a sunny spring afternoon at 4pm and lightly sprinkled with other visitors sitting on blankets enjoying this gem of a garden. Loved the intention behind everything from how things were planted to the sculptures along the way. My day was made much better from stopping at this garden.

We had a wander round the gardens which were full of beautiful tulips. There were several smaller gardens off the main one, including a knot garden. We then came across the Sussex Guild shop and gallery, which had some beautiful objects for sale, made by many local artists. Worth visiting just for the gallery!
It was free to get in, which was even better!

Considering this park is run by the local council and is free to visit, it is absolutely marvellous. There is a pervading atmosphere of peace and calm and tranquility with plenty areas, beautiful herbaceous borders with colourful floral planting.
This should be a model for municipal parks to follow.

We have been wanting to go in here for a very long time, so we spent ages finding a parking space, parked up and paid to park - happily walked to the park to be turned out after just getting in as we had our dog with us and they don't allow dogs in - very upset about this.
Their website doesn't mention this, so I thought I'd put this on here so no one else has this experience if they read this first!

You can have lunch or tea or morning coffee from a hatch in the wall of historic Southover Grange, in the beautiful setting of the gardens. The best month is early May, when the formal beds are flowering at their best. Then they dig everything up and start again for the summer display of vibrant colours in July and August. A peaceful and beautiful place- take a book.

These are beautifully tended gardens near Lewes Station and the town centre. At the bottom of the historic Keere Street. A brilliant place for a romantic stroll, or somewhere for children to run around safely. An interesting craft shop, and a good value cafe (in the Summer) top this off to be a great place to visit. If coming to Lewes, pack a picnic and enjoy the scenery.

Wouldn't have known about these gardens had we not walked from Castle to Anne of Cleves house, but we were really impressed with them. Beautiful planting within lots of different gardens.Plenty of benches dotted around. Ruins to walk through and statues to look at. Small cafe come art gallery. Loved the pampas grass and dahlias.

Southover is a beautiful heart to Lewes in the bottom of a valley beautifully planted.
It is a great place to spend some time. Let the kids run or enjoy the plants.

Another attraction in Lewes that is free of charge (the priory ruins are also free). This is a beautifully kept garden every bit as good as any garden you would normally have to pay and entrance fee to see so to have free access really is unusual. We wandered around the garden admiring the plants and borders, had teas at the cafe and generally enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere of the place. I have been here several times before and I am sure that I shall go again many more times. Definitely a nice place to spend an hour or so if you happen to find yourself in Lewes.

Are there public toilets at the Grange please?
Written 7 July 2019
Hi Suzanne. I don't think so because I need to go regularly and always look for them and I can't say that I noticed any.
However, I did ask at the council offices near the station if I could use their toilet which they did.
Hope this help.

Is there free disabled parking close to the park/garden and toilets?
Written 28 June 2019
Street parking either end of the gardens (yellow line with badge) or pay & display. Toilets over by the rose garden.
Enjoy your visit. TR

Written 16 August 2017
There is on street parking in Southover a Road adjacent to the park, for which you can pay at the nearby ticket machine.

Hello there! May I know how big is the garden and how long does it take to walk around it?
Written 28 July 2015
It is not over large, but quite beautiful. You could walk around it in less than half an hour, or if you stop to admire the flowers you should allow an hour, (plus an extra 29 mins for a cuppa from the kiosk). There is plenty of seating dotted around.
