Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My son was down from London. Had a couple of pints of Harvey’s plus Scampi and Pie of the Day - Chicken. Harvey’s was first rate, food was excellent, staff and atmosphere welcoming.

Simply the nicest pub I’ve come across in years! Had a meal here with an old friend. First visit. Beautiful setting with extremely friendly staff and dog. Beers were great and so was the food. Amazingly spacious beer garden which was perfect for a sunny afternoon, and play area for kids. Can’t wait to visit again next time we are in the area. Lots of memorabilia and commemoration of Spitfire Squadron which was close to here in WW2. Fantastic place for a pint and a bite. Wholeheartedly recommended.

We had a lovely lunch at the Plough today. Four adults and a 2 year old made very welcome by the friendly landlady, other diners and their dear doggie Zena.
My husband enjoyed a great pint of Harvey’s old ale whilst I had a very nice glass or two of Sauvignon blanc. The house Merlot was nice too according to our son.
The food was excellent - some of the best chips we have ever had! Very tasty scampi, delicious burger with Stilton and fab ham and egg enjoyed by all. Nice little Mac and cheese for our granddaughter too.
Reasonable prices and a great atmosphere - what a find we will definitely return.
Thank you.

We popped in at lunchtime and were quickly served by friendly and helpful bar staff.

The Harveys best bitter was superb and will definitely return for more.

We had a couple of baguettes with 1) prawns and 2) tuna mayo.
Both were freshly made and tasty but we both agreed they were perhaps a little bit under filled. Good value though.

Lots of interesting Spitfire pictures and models etc due to Polish RAF WWII squadron base at Chailey nearby.

It was a quiet pint, on my own, last Sunday which prompted this review. This pub is so friendly and welcoming. Whether booking ahead for lunch or supper, or just popping in for a pint, The Plough is a terrific local and we are lucky to have it. Well worth a visit.

An impromptu visit to The Plough as the pub into which we were booked for supper, in Cooksbridge, had virtually none of the dishes advertised on the menu actually available. A quick call to The Plough secured a table and a great meal - steak & kidney pie and chips, with gravy, twice, and sausage and mash. All excellent. Well-kept Harvey’s and a warm welcome topped off our evening.

We’ve eaten at The Plough a few times recently and have been impressed with the food. I’m always trying to find nice pubs to take my elderly Mum to. She has mobility issues but finds it easy to get up the little step at the entrance. The Ploughman’s lunch is the best I’ve had. Very filling! It includes a choice of cheese, or ham or I think a homemade scotch egg. Plenty of different pickles plus some potato salad and green salad. And the roll is warm when it comes out and a nice farmhouse shape. Really lovely. Nice friendly pub. Would definitely recommend. There’s also a lovely garden with a kids play area.

It’s hard to find a ploughman’s lunch at pubs these days, but The Plough lived up to its name. Very good lunch, with a variety of components; good bread, cheese, pickled onion, gherkins, slaw, salad, apple slices, celery, Branson and picalili. A ploughman would be very pleased with this, I certainly was!

Turned up pre races and had not booked but they fitted me in and produced a fantastic burger with friendly service. Proper home made burger that had a nice texture and well presented with salad and chips. Staff were pleasant and friendly. They had Harvey's beer too even a late Old Ale. Nice pub, worth the walk up from the racecourse.

This is a proper pub which does ace food. A lot of the boozers around here are no more than restaurants that could do you a pint. We shared some tasty whitebait, then a classic ham egg and chips. The highlight was a delicious spotted dick and custard, proper English pudding! Lovely, friendly service with a gorgeous pub dog. Really appreciated the RAF connection as well.
