- Gerard R3 contributionsSplendid Garden & Plant Sale.Spent a wonderful afternoon to celebrate my husbands birthday at Cupani, the garden is looking magical, the planting as ever excellent. Aideen provided us with a wonderful lunch followed by a really nice Lemon & Almond cake. To end, visited that plant sale area, good selection of plants so I was happy. Raising funds for two very worthy charities. Many thanks Aideen & Denis for a wonderful afternoon. It was lovely as always to welcome you and your friends for lunch. It turned out nice which it is always great for garden visits . Thank you for your support, our charity beneficiaries really appreciate it. Aideen and Dennis were the perfect hosts, great plant knowledge and generous with their advice. The garden is full and beautifully kept. A wide selection of well maintained plants were for sale. Lunch was served on the sunny terrace, lovely homemade salads and perfect tarts. Delicious cake/desserts. 10/10 for hosting/food/plants/and general loveliness. - Charlie44Brighton, United Kingdom4 contributionsAlways different, always incredible.Every year I make sure I find time to visit this wonderful garden and each time I am newly amazed at the changes the owners have worked hard to complete. This time I took four friends over from Australia, they were similarly impressed and rued the fact they wouldn't be allowed to take plants home on the plane! Familiar favourites mix with plants you have never heard of but grow side by side in beautiful colour schemes. I love this place and can't recommend it enough.Thank you for your lovely comments about the garden , our charity beneficiaries are always delighted with the money we raise through the open garden and plant sales. This is made possible by the generosity of our visitors . Look forward to welcoming you again.Written 3 July 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 2 July 2024
- Tina D25 contributionsFascinating garden jewel in Seaford - with excellent cake!Cupani is a magical garden tucked away in Seaford. It is a tapestry of colourful plants including the abundant velvety purple Cupani sweet peas after which the garden is named. In spring the tulips dazzle & in summer the roses bloom abundantly. There is a wide variety of perennials, annuals, shrubs and climbers. Areas of the garden are tweaked & updated each year so if you visit annually, there is always something new to see. This year galvanised troughs showcase perennial wallflowers and a varied array of impressive succulents. There is a tempting plant stall & the friendly and knowledgeable owners are on hand to answer questions and to explain their propagation techniques. Refreshments are delicious and there are several comfortable sitting areas where you can enjoy close-up views of the blooms. On my most recent visit I enjoyed a generous slice of delicious coffee cake; the choice was difficult to make as there were several other choices to tempt me!Thank you for your kind words about the garden and refreshments. Glad you liked the planting the new troughs. The charities we support are very appreciative of the generosity of our visitors. We look forward to welcoming you back next year.Written 26 July 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 26 July 2024
- James F6 contributionsInspirational GardenIt was a delight to visit this beautiful garden as part of the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) with a group of friends on a Summers afternoon. We were meet by the owners who gave an overview of how the garden 'grew' into what it is today. We were then left to explore their inspirational garden but, all the while, the owners were quietly on hand to answer our questions we had. I particularly enjoyed the artwork dotted about the place - there was a surprise around every corner! We finished our visit with homemade cake and refreshments, which were absolutely delicious! Such a good idea to invite guests to your garden and raise money for charity - Cupani and the NGS are a win win!!Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 July 2024

Visited on 20/6/21 when open for NGS Garden Scheme.
Most gardens of this physical size would be a patch of lawn and a few plants around the edge but this is an amazing floral Tardis with short paths and seating areas separated from each other by intensive planting. There is so much to take in and I take my hat off to the owners for their ingenuity and work in creating and maintaining their masterpiece.
Seriously, if anyone thinks that their garden is too small to have the "Wow !" factor , come and see how it is done. Several places to sit and relax and a great selection of plants on sale. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable - how they can remember each plant is amazing.
Downside:
I am now under orders to get mine back under control :-0

We love it when people take away ideas from the garden and you are right no matter how small your garden you can always create a wow factor. Love the photographs you took. If you are ever in the area again do visit, we are a week away from the Agapanthus fest which increases the wow factor.

Beautiful garden tucked away in Seaford but what a find. The plants are just wonderful, great plant sales too and a cafe selling lunches and range of delicious cakes or a cream tea.
The hosts are lovely too, can’t recommend a visit enough.

Arranged an appointment and received a very genuine greeting. The owners are very knowledgeable about all garden plants and issues. The plants on sale were well labelled, of reasonable price and excellent specimens. The beauty being you could view them in their natural setting. Would love to return for tea and cake when permitted.

I was dragged there unwillingly by my wife but soon changed my mind. The garden is breathtaking. A stunning and carefully crafted display which gets you thinking: can I do this? The answer is that you can do some of it straight away, they'll sell you plants at a great price and give lots of advice to help you. They even gave me the recipe for the best ginger cake of all time. Bottom line: go there, it is a fabulous experience, brilliantly curated and run by friendly and incredibly helpful people.

Wonderful compact garden hidden in suburban Seaford. Visited during Open day on a Sunday afternoon. The garden is an oasis of beauty and tranquility. The hosts were very friendly people ready to help and advise. I really liked the seating areas designed to appreciate the plants and the vistas. Coffee and homemade cakes were excellent too. Plants for sale and Gardening books at affordable prices made the visit really enjoyable.

I had never visited before but the garden had been recommended by at least four of my close friends. I live in Brighton and don't have a car but I managed a smooth and interesting bus drive along the coast. I was not disappointed. I had a lovely welcome and was given lots of information about the history and layout of the garden. It is a relatively small area but the amount of planting is astounding. There has been obvious intense exploration re how to make the utmost of every single cranny! As an ardent gardener I recognised many of the plants but was pleasantly surprised by rare and unknown specimens. I fully enjoyed my walk round and the owners made themselves available to answer questions and obviously knew their stuff! I then took a break and had a delicious lunch, very reasonably priced and freshly made. I went round the garden again, catching the plants I had missed out on the first time. Wonderful. I left having bought some healthy looking plants for my own garden, lots to choose from. I will definitely be telling everyone to visit and will return next year. Thank you owners, what a lovely day out.

If you could spend an afternoon in Eden, I imagine this must be what it's like. We were lucky enough to visit Cupani early in the season and were greeted with impossibly huge and elaborate tulips everywhere. I've visited before in summer and wandered through in a scented haze of sweet peas but it was a joy to see a different side to this beautiful oasis.
The garden changes so much from year to year, thanks to the endless labour and creativity put in by Aideen and Denis, our hosts. There's always something new to discover and I've learned so much about gardening simply from visiting and asking questions. After a couple of hours of poring over this year's new planting, we ate our bodyweight in cream tea and cakes, and left with massive bags of new plants and preserves (top tip: the lemon marmalade and the raspberry jam are gold medal standard!) Visiting Cupani is one of the highlights of my year and I hope you manage to visit and love it as much as I do :)

This garden is just beautiful and magical to look round full of every plant possible! the smell of sweet peas hits you as soon as you arrive. The cake is heavenly and so much choice all homemade by Aideen. A wonderful plant sale in the shade where Dennis is able to answer any questions about gardening. This garden is not to be missed you will love every minute and your last chance for a while is Friday 15th July 2-5. Please do support Aideen and Dennis and in doing so you are supporting some amazing charities too 😘😘

Tucked away in a small close on the edge of Seaford is this gem of a garden. Denis and Aileen have turned their deceptively large garden into a beautiful and interesting place to visit with all kinds of plants shrubs and trees.
They are very knowledgeable and a great resource if you need advice . We saw the advert for their charity plant sale and booked up. As first time visitors we were thrilled to see the range of plants available all listed with pictures in a catalogue so one could see how they would grow and flower.
We are delighted with our purchases and planning to buy again later in the year.
Thank you both for your warm welcome and advice.

When is the garden open in 2017? Is there a website? Is there a food menu?
Written 2 May 2017
Hello, yes to all above. Website gives all our opening dates under events but we also do private visits in June and July. Look at the refreshments section on the website. We do lovely full lunches or light lunch and if of course lots of tea and cake. If you have any special dietary
needs as long as I know in advance I can
accommodate these. Our website also gives our email address. Hope you can make it. Regards
This answer won't let me add the website link but if you google Cupani Garden you will get to it
