Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Coastguard Cottages are perched on the edge of a cliff with breathtaking views of the sea and the Seven Sisters in the background. Well worth a visit to soak in the scenery and for the great photo opportunities!

If you love nature, a bird watcher, a photographer, a hiker then you cannot ignore this beautiful corner of the East Sussex Coast. Set your google maps to BN25 4AR and it will guide you to the Barn Parking area at Seaford Head Nature Reserve. When you arrive find parking and grab your kit, a bottle of water and comfortable shoes and make your way down toward the Cottages. You cannot get lost but do be careful of the cliff edges as they are fragile. As you walk down the path over the cattle grid and pass the fields on the left do keep an eye out for birds such as Stonechat, Robin and Blackbird, maybe a few more migratory birds as well. As the Cottages come into view you will see the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs and sea as its backdrop. If its a clear day you might see the Belle toute lighthouse in the distance! Get out your camera or phone and take photos, they will always delight. Walk around the bushes in front of you keeping to the left, pass the blockhouse, a legacy of the war and head toward the Cuckmere river and take in its beauty. The kids can play on the beach while you relax in this beautiful place.

These historic cottages are situated near to Cuckmere Haven. Due to the coastal erosion they are now very close to the cliff edge and will not be there for much longer. They provide a beautiful photo opportunity with the Seven Sisters in the background and can be reached after a walk from Seaford Head car park. Glad we made the effort to go there.

I’ve lived in or around Eastbourne for most of my life and this was one of the places I wanted to visit and at 48 yes of age! it was well worth the trundle on my mobility scooter to see the view. Just breathtaking and my daughter and grandson in his buggy absolutely loved it too! Gorgeous views and lovely walk too!

These are old cottages, now very close to the cliff edge not too far from the beach at Cuckmere Haven. I believe they have been used for scenes in several films and TV shows. Looking down at the cottages from the cliff walk, they look great framed against the backdrop of the Seven Sisters exposed chalk cliffs beyond. We walked here from Seaford beach, along the cliff path (about two miles each way).

Pleasant cottages very close to the cliff, they are just part of the view on a ;pleasant coastal walk, nothing special, although they are very close to the cliff edge. One good storm and a bit of cliff dropping and you think they will all go into the sea. One of them has had a bit of investment recently, as it has solar panels and solar water heating.

What a stunning place to visit! We only walked down a ways to take some photos before moving on, half hour would be enough though it would have been lovely to walk around if the the time permitted as there were some walking tracks on offer.
If you are travelling, make sure you have a beanie, sunnies and a warm jumper or windjacket.
Beautiful place to take photographs! Wear good shoes, the path is gravel and steep but not too bad.

This view was exactly as I remembered form Atonement! And Luther....

Parking is free, but two hour stay only. Dogs must be on leads and not brilliant for very young children as the cliffs are straight down to the beach.

It’s an easy stroll down to the cottages, maybe 15 minutes. Steepish walking up, but path pretty good. Wouldn’t be a problem with a push chair.

No toilets that we could find, but great coffee van at car park.

The view of the Seven Sisters from this site is gorgeous. Walk from Seaford village, through Seaford Head, and reach this site. Amazing view along the way as every step bring you closer to the best view.

As big fans of the BBC's Luther series, it was great to see the cottages. This is where Luther was found living reclusively at the start of Series 4!
