This beautiful mainly Tudor house is full of fascinating furniture, beautiful artifacts and quirky architectural features (17th century dog gate on the stairs for example!), But primarily it is the home of the Stringer family and they are on hand to tell you all about it, and that's what makes a visit here so pleasurable. Nothing beats being told about... More

Whittington Court is a beautiful Elizabethan manor house, lovingly restored by the owners, - three or maybe four generations in residence. We enjoyed a wonderful day in Jenny's workshop/studio in the roof, doing fabric block printing with Jenny's guidance. We brought our own lunch, but Jenny supplied the most delicious chocolate cake. Highly recommend the experience. Our fee went to... More

This is a hidden gem in the Cotswold's. The people that run it are lovely and full of knowledge and interesting local facts. Its not an amusement park, but its perfect to spend a few hours in a lovely quiet location.

Found this place by chance when scrolling through the HHA website looking for fairly local places to visit on a Bank Holiday Monday. Having lived near Gloucester and worked in Cheltenham I was amazed I had not heard about this place. Yet I didn't feel so bad as on the day of my visit there were visitors present who were... More

This lovely property is only open for a few weeks in the year, but well worth seeking out in August and springtime. An elizabethan house with many later alterations it has been lovingly restored by the current owners who seem to enjoy welcoming their visitors to their home and enthusiastically sharing their vast knowledge of the building, the village and... My wife and I had rejoined HHA again (£75 ..visited 27 properties last year) recently and having visited Hardwicke Court (disappointed) earlier in the day we decided to then visit Whittington Court and found it very interesting. We arrived at about 3.00 and when we entered the library we were then informed about the property and surrounding area from a... More

This property treats visitors as guests. Very warm welcome from the owners, and the talk in the library about the history of the house was most interesting. The house is quirky and has a lovely atmosphere.. Tea is served in the kitchen area, and visitors sit together to chat and enjoy the lovely cakes and sandwiches. All donations go to... More

Very friendly and helpful owners. A beautiful historic house in attractive gardens, with adjoining church. We were given an interesting and comprehensive talk for about an hour in the library, about the house's history before the guided tour. Afterwards, we enjoyed some delicious home baked cakes and tea, making a donation for the Gaza appeal. For friends of Historic Houses... More
