a good walk with stunning views

plenty of walking with stunning views all over gloucestershire - need to be fairly fit as some walks are rather steep but worth the effort to get to top

Whilst walking along the Cotswold Way towards Painswick I diverted to climb to the top of the Beacon. Great views across to Gloucester and the surrounding countryside and worth stopping to appreciate them.

Parked at golf club and walked the track and along the edge of the fairways up to the Beacon where the scenery is breathtaking. Can see forever! So quiet and the birdlife was beautiful.

We were staying in Painswick and drove up the the Beacon car park, but it is very poorly sign posted. You walk across what must be the highest most oddly placed golf course in Britain!! The view form the top is spectacular. We did it on a raw cloudy day but it was still very worth going

We had a little trouble walking to the Painswick Beacon. The first route we took was from St Mary's in Painswick, taking a marked walking route. We had some beautiful views along the way through the fields but unfortunately, we hit some boggy sections which made us turn back around. There was no way we were going to make it... More

We had a great view from this beacon on our way back from Painswick to Cheltenham. Great for a picknick at teatime!

A short walk from the car park (should you choose to drive) is the Painswick Beacon, which offers a high up view of the Cotswolds that is one of the best you'll get (the other being on Broadway Tower in the town of Broadway). It's free so definitely worth a visit for a picture if nothing else.

Well worth a walk to the summit to see the wonderful views and also the ancient hillside fort. Parking close by - also possible to join up the Cotswolds way and see the tricky Painswick golf course too!

A simple 10 minute walk across the golf course to access the top of this hill. The view is worth the small amount of effort to reach it. Chose a clear day and you can see the hills of Wales, Shropshire and Somerset..
