Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thanks so much to Marc and the catering team for looking after us so well during our visit this month.
The course is so different to the usual fare and a bargain for the green fee, is steeped in history and has great views!
The club house is recently renovated and staff amazing, golf or no golf just stop off there for a Sunday lunch or a refreshment stop if you are on the Cotswold Way.
We will definitely see you again.

Went to meet friends for Sunday lunch. We were told it’s delicious and they weren’t joking. Plenty of beautifully cooked meat and help yourself to as much sides as you like.
Red cabbage, cauliflower cheese and much much more. I was stuffed. Will return.

For anyone that actually wants to play a sane round of golf avoid at absolute all costs. The whole course feels like you are playing in an unkept field filled with pedestrians crossing your path. The uneasy and ridiculous location of the holes makes getting round the course feel like completing gold Duke of Edinburgh with Honours.
Never play here it’s a mess, a right pain(…swick)!!!

I have played this course several times and although a stern test this is a real treat.
The cause follows the Cotswold Way walk and is surrounded by the very best of views.
I mention a stern test but if you can keep your ball in or at least close to the fairway it is a challenging course played as golf was intended.
Fast greens in summer, tight shared fairways and no bunkers.
The course is draped over a shallow hill in the main but it does offer options on how you play each hole.
Difficult and tight but fantastic, well worth a visit.
The clubhouse is all that you, could ask for with great food and drink and more importantly a genuine welcome from the staff and members.
Low cost green fees make this an all round package?
Give it a try, you may feel tired at the end of your round but it will sharpen your game and your thinking about how to play the glorious game!

The club restaurant is called Foxtons, if you see this sign and go past it then more fool you. We arrived very muddy and dirty but had a very friendly, warm welcome even though they were busy with a private party. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The food is good old fashioned grub and plenty of it. The banter with the golfers was a great diversion from being cold and wet. So glad we stopped off the Cotswold Way for or lunch. So if you are passing don't miss out, get in there.

This is a restaurant 'inside ' a golf club. "Horton's at Painswick Golf Club"
Visited for 3rd time for Sunday Carvery. Again great food with friendly service. This is a true carvery with 'real food' and great selection of meats and veg.Booking recommended as it is very busy (no surprise there).

The new owners all 3 of them introduced themselves to us and personally looked after us throughout . Well done and I really hope you get the success you deserve .

The course and scenery is beautiful, and presents a lot of challenges. Particularly if you play off a large handicap like me. We teed off at 10.37 on a Sunday, and it was relatively quiet. Which seemed odd. This is a public access course, so you expect dog walkers etc. But there were literally 100s. Long waits at tees spoiled the round. And the greens were very poorly maintained. Very difficult to get any sort of read. It's a shame because the course itself has a lot of potential.

A Christmas present of a voucher for a round of golf at Painswick golf club was given to my dearest friend Irv, and he asked me to join him, well the golf was poor to say the least!!!,but when we returned to the clubhouse I didn't imagine what was coming after I ordered two cups of coffee and two bacon rolls, firstly the coffees came first, well nectar comes to mind, it was the BEST cup of coffee I ever had, truly, then the bacon rolls came, not one slice but two,hot in a fresh bap, and the fat taken off, well, it was fit for a king!
Tasty hot bacon it was perfect, while I was enjoying this lovely bacon bap I thought we would have another cup of coffee not for one second thinking it would be as good as the first!but, wow it was.It was my first visit to Painswick golf club it will not be my last, not for the golf, no ,but for the lovely food, it is so popular that they are fully booked for Sunday lunches, but, if you happen to walking or even passing by in the car pop in as the breakfast baps are gorgeous and coffee is fab I can't wait to take my darling wife to experience it, enjoy it you will,oh by the way the staff where brilliant, it's a no brainier visit, eat, and enjoy
