About
Gallery Pangolin is a 'must-see' on any tour of the Cotswolds. Tucked away in the village of Chalford on the slopes of the escarpment is one of Gloucestershire's best-kept secrets. On what was once a Victorian industrial site at the heart of the Golden Valley, Gallery Pangolin is one of the few galleries to specialise in sculpture and related drawings and is open to visitors 6 days a week. We are located on Chalford Industrial Estate on the A419 in between Stroud and Cirencester.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Honesty, humour, ingenuity and beauty abound in the Coverack meadows speckled with his sculptures, set amid a majestic and rugged Cornish coastline.

The exhibition gallery on the site of the extensive Pangolin bronze foundry at Chalford, is always worth a visit. It takes a little perseverance to find it, including a walk round the outer area of the site as far as the small adjacent river. But then an excellent modern lift whisks you easily up to the first floor galley, where there is invariably a warm courteous welcome.
The exhibitions change every few months, often focusing on the work of an individual artist. Predominantly sculpture but often with associated prints and drawings. Always intelligently assembled and sensitively displayed in a simple way: individual pieces focused on while also relating to one another. There are usually high quality, well-illustrated colour catalogues – sometimes without charge.
The Stroud Valleys area is extremely fortunate to have this world-class company here. There is also a London Gallery near King's Cross Station – worth heading there too when you get the chance!

Great exhibition in a beautiful still place! A bit strange getting the lift up and down to the entrance but enjoyable...this is the only way to access the gallery!

Dear Ruth we are very glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to the gallery and thank you for the review. You can also enter the gallery via a set of metal stairs situated on the side of the building if you would prefer.

A great place to visit for anyone interested in sculpture. Really interesting exhibitions and the staff in the gallery are friendly and knowlegable and will get out other pieces from stock if you are interested in a particular sculptor. We enjoyed our visit and the piece that we bought.

The lady who looked after this Gallery on Saturday had a wonderful knowledge of their stock and of their artists and sculptors including British Modern, Lyn Chadwick, Kenneth Armitage etc. Current sculptors. Very difficult to choose.lovely to be given past catalogues. Will go again.

We saw the Marino Marini exhibition of drawings, also sculptures by other artists.
I have never yet seen an exhibition here that I have not enjoyed. There are usually works by Lynn Chadwick, Jon Buck, Terence Coventry, among others. As this is the foundry that casts the work of established artists, including Damien Hirst, newly completed works can often be seen, and the occasional glimpse into the foundry is fascinating. Gallery Pangolin is well worth a visit if you are interested in modern sculpture.

Great range of works on display in superb environment right next to the foundry which makes some of the pieces. The assistant managing the exhibits was friendly, helpful and not at all like the usual stuffy staff at any artistic venue. Took two teenagers with the attention span of a Knat who were suffering withdrawal of no I phone in hand, the hyperventilating was palpable, but even they managed to swivel the eyes around for twenty minutes. Highly recommended.

A small gallery with some interesting pieces but not sufficient to extand a stay. Coudl benefit from a greater variety of exhibitors, better signage and easier access.
