Thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Enchanted night we went to despite the persistent rain and COVID restrictions. My granddaughter still talks about it after her visit. Always a very enjoyable excursion.

We've have been members of Westonbirt for a long time and have seen many changes over the last few years, gone now has the rustic feel of the place and now feels geared towards families with children but that's fine as we can still enjoy a chill out walk away from the crowds. But, the Customer Service at the entrance has got really bad, I was left humiliated the other week, when asked why I wasn't presenting two membership cards for my two pre-booked tickets, one being a Personal Assistant ticket, to be told there was no such thing and I needed to show another card..there was a queue forming behind me and all being heard over the microphone, I asked if I could enter the reception (socially distanced of course) as I was nearly in tears with embarrassment to be told a blunt NO..there was a man on the desk who butted into the conversation as well insisting I needed to show another card and talking to me like a child. Finally, when my husband seeing me upset, stepped forward and said I'm her carer aka Personal Assistant as on the ticket I'd booked, I was let through. In all the years, we've been going to Westonbirt we have never experienced anything as bad as it is recently, even though you do seem to be cross examined by certain members of staff at the Welcome building for a while now but not to this degree and especially as they've seen you and taken your tickets previously!. I have always booked my tickets correctly and would NEVER book extra tickets on my membership card. It put me off going again for a bit until today, things were better but yet again I was asked for a second card for the PA ticket until I started to quote from the email I had received on what to say at the desk..honestly!!! I do appreciate all the amazing hard work they do at Westonbirt for tree conservation, protecting species etc, and it remains one of my favourite places to walk in the local area especially at the moment where our spirits are low, but please do something about the Customer Service at the entrance. Maybe they could concentrate more on stopping people entering without purchasing tickets..including two who were trying today until we shot them a look from the bridge! Also, on the large groups of people that are still meeting there..but I guess once they're past the entrance detectives there's not much they can do. It seems like they're making examples of people but please make sure you treat people with dignity and understanding, not everyone is out to book dishonestly.

Took my wife and two young children as a surprise to the enchanted Christmas event and had an awful time, we will not be returning and based on our experience would not recommend it, some of the staff were very rude and one senior member of staff in particular was very aggressive, breaking covid distance rules by shouting in my face before we had even entered, which scared my daughter causing her to cry, making the whole thing impossible to enjoy. They have been ignoring my emails, and will not respond to my request for a refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Terrible customer service.

After nearly 20 years as members we have made the decision to cancel our membership and not to renew until there are improvements at Westonbirt Arboretum. Firstly, the attitude of the staff at the window and over zealous marshalling in the entrance area, even in pre-covid times has become ridiculous. Upon showing pre-ordered barcoded PDF delivered tickets, we are then asked to show membership cards? I wonder how long it will be until we are required to bring passports to proved our identity. The staff at windows are seemingly unable to produce a smile or greeting and seem more concerned in scrutinizing tickets and barcodes rather than simply wishing visitors to enjoy their visit to Westonbirt Arboretum. This is comparable to having someone stationed at the exit doors of a Supermarket checking every single customers' receipt upon leaving as a means to deter shoplifting. I wonder if there exists a massive underground black market in members of the public attempting to gain fraudulent access to Westonbirt Arboretum by using cards of friends and family? I suspect not. Secondly, upon recieving emails from Sky Sports (after the football season was postponed) and my local gym (after gyms were locked down) explaining that direct debits would be put on hold until they fully reopened and they were able to meet the terms and conditions of our respective agreements. I contacted Westonbirt and explained that the limits placed on visitor numbers during Covid-19 had resulted in us being to unable to visit as often as usual, and in line with other businesses would we be offered an extension to our memberships? The reply stated that as it was a charity there would be no refunds or extensions. Charity or not, it hardly seems fair to charge customers an annual subscription and make no concessions when the terms and conditions of that subscription (i.e Covid-19) are substantially restricted or amended. Shame really, but there you go. All the best!

I didn't want to write this, but... having just seen previous reviews, and pictures from our family of the lights at Wakehurst, I feel obligated to confirm the poor reviews of Westonbirt. I was very disappointed with the lights and general experience at Westonbirt; as previously mentioned by others, far too crowded - bizarrely, we were let in early, only to be mixed with hundreds of others, which made obligatory social distancing impossible. The lighting itself was nothing special and, although I wasn't sure quite what to expect, it was all pretty underwhelming. Granddaughter didn't enjoy it and, sadly, nor did we. It seems a real shame to have to write this, as a lot of people must have gone to a lot of trouble to do the work in these troubled times, but I'm afraid to say it really wasn't a nice experience. Let's hope 2021 will be better.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We're sad to hear you found it disappointing. We've had some great feedback from the installations this year and we're looking forward to see how it'll develop next year. All the best
