So after traveling 200 miles and arriving early for my ferry, have to use this company as I work for a government agency I was greeted by a miserable girl, wightlink check your staffing if you want to name someone 15:00 hrs 16th February. I said to her hello I’m a bit early but don’t mind what ferry I’m on, her reply was your an hour early go into line 12, I said will I get on an early one her reply was I don’t know!! Customer service costs nothing wightlink my company buys booked tickets which are transferable so what is the problem with a bit of customer service. I have a choice which is a pain as booking is more complicated but red funnel is looming me thinks.

We crossed from Portsmouth to Ryde and cannot fault the service. We had arrived in Portsmouth harbour by train and the ferry connection was perfect then on arrival at Ryde pier head there was a train waiting to take us along the pier to the esplanade. We dismounted from the train with only a five minute walk to our hotel. Perfect.

This is a company doing as little as it can get away with in serving people who need to travel. That's 'NEED' to travel. Currently the company will not open its ticket kiosks. It can, but won't. It's for them to give a credible reason they will not do so. I very much doubt they will. It relies on technology for passengers to attempt to use the services. Pre-booked travel is essential, they claim, but as I say, it's a dismissive clause to ensure they can continue to decline to serve the travelling needs of passengers properly. Their App is frequently non-functional, their ticket machines locally at embarkation and disembarkation areas suffer commonplace non-availability. When that happens, passengers are denuded the chance to travel, and with absolutely no interest from the staff. The technology is demonstrably unreliable. Their staff demonstrably contemptuous of travellers. The manned ticket kiosks need to reopen both sides of the water, at the very least at morning and evening peak hours. (That's 'morning AND evening) Their response to glowing replies on this facility demonstrates they can read and reply when they want. Their notable silence to responses which are less than glowing speak for itself. This is a company preying on the needs of passengers, and has no interest in serving them properly. IF they won't do it (and they can if they wanted) then let them slip by the wayside and let somebody competent do it themselves. Get off your lazy backsides, Wightlink. Serve your paying passengers properly.

Hello Dave Thank you for your review. I'm sorry your opinion of our services it poor. It is true that responding to TripAdvisor reviews has taken a back seat during the pandemic. Our focus has been on travellers who have had their travel plans affected.. Inevitably, changes have been made as we adapt our services to meet the challenges caused by the novel coronavirus outbreak, which will be closely monitored and reviewed. As you mention, our ticket offices in our ports are currently closed. This is to reduce interaction and the risk of the spread of coronavirus between our colleagues and the wider community. We'd love nothing more than to open all our facilities and offer a full timetable. However, this will need to be carefully timed as we aim to protect our services in this difficult time. The numbers of travellers is, understandably, significantly below the numbers that would normally travel with us. Sorry once again.

Hello Andrew Thank you for your review. Inevitably, the numbers of people travelling on our FastCat service has dropped considerably and I'm sorry we're not operating a full timetable during the pandemic. We hope things will improve and we'll be happy to increase our service to meet demand. I'm also sorry you find out teams to be miserable and rude. If this happens to you again, please do let us know what happened using one of the forms on the 'contact us' page of our website. We would then be happy to pass your report to our management team to follow up with the teams concerned. Sorry once again.

I travel regularly on the Ryde to Portsmouth cat. All fine until Wight link created a new website after the covid lock down. As there is now advance booking, I had two very simple questions. Email suits me best. Absolutely, totally no contact details, or it is well hidden. In desperation a week ago I went on the separate, and equally hard to find, complaints page. What a palava, do this do that, register here, register there. It is now 7 days later, not even an acknowledgement! I am travelling on the more expensive, less convenient Hovercraft. (Onward journey Gosport) I think Wight link are hiding from complaints so they can say how good they are!
